The food is just awesome - even for vegetarians. I tried the spicy stirfried noodles and it was mouthwatering.

Great Malaysian cuisine. Best I've had outside of Kuala Lumpur

Though food is good, they are pricey in comparison to other Malaysian restaurants serving similar dishes in Sydney ($25 for a serve of char kwetiao). Unfortunately, customer service is terrible and rude. Menu was immediately shoved back to us after we literally just finished our main meals. The second after the menu was placed on the table by a staff, a different staff came and told us we needed to place our order in a minute. When we said 'the menu was just given to us, we need time to look', the staff replied in rude tone 'how long do we need 1 minute or 2 minutes?'. Management needs to train their staff on customer service. Definitely not coming back. Many other Malaysian restaurants in Sydney that serve good food and know how to treat customers. Don't waste your money there.

Decent Malaysian food but the quality and taste are different each time I came. If you are craving for Malaysian food or want to try some authentic taste, this place is recommend to go in Sydney CBD. Reservation is essential as they can get pretty busy.

Overall, food is delicious except for the curry fish. The fish is fresh but the curry/gravy was too thick, thicken with corn flour which didn't leave a good taste. Service staff are friendly and food was served quickly. The lack of soft furnishings made the place noisy and difficult for conversations.

The food was reasonably tasty but we expected a bit more. Staff were obliging and our booking was honoured on time. Wont rush to come back, but it is worth a visit if you want to try some different styles. Prices a little high but not overly expensive.

Description

Ho Jiak Haymarket is Sydney’s first Malaysian Nyonya grill house and is inspired by the homestyle and street food dishes that Head Chef Junda Khoo grew up cooking with his amah in the family kitchen. Feast on thick, spicy Laksa with chewy al dente egg noodles, rated one of the best in Sydney. Or embrace the Nyonya grill with a grilled tasting platter of lamb cutlets, chicken and seafood, complete with BBQ char lines and chilli sambal sauce. The ground floor of the two-story restaurant is inspired by the street Chef Khoo grew up on in Penang, Lebuh Ah Quee. Up on the first floor, the decor is styled like his grandma’s home, a place full of love and laughter. Welcome to Amah’s Kitchen…
