Dined here for dinner today. Giving it 5 star for the friendly staff. Their sales today went towards the breast cancer research which is very generous. I would come back.

Can't believe we've only just discovered this fantastic restaurant in Chinatown. As soon as you walk in the ambience and interior design makes you feel you've entered a Malay or Singaporean shophouse. Lovely authentic experience. Varied and extensive menu with so much to choose from. The charkwayreow with marron was delicious as was the lobak. Satay is always a good way of judging standards. Hojiak's satay was really good but just needed more peanut sauce! Loved our meal here and can't wait to return for chilli crab

The food is too salty. Not worth the paying price. I still prefer jilat jilat or malacca straits

Best vegetarian nasi goreng now that Fajar over in Kensington has (sadly) shut down. A bit pricey but worth it.

Cute decor and nice service but our meals were incredibly boney. Definitely not a restaurant for a first date or somewhere to go when you don’t feel like using your fingers to eat and spitting out bones. Knifes were not provided but they had them when asked. Our meals also included many fine bones which one of us had the misfortune to swallow. The flavours were nice and the food was nicely presented.

Delicious Malaysian food. Very good selection of Malaysian food that’s not mamak food, definitely hits the spot! Great service, great portions. Yummy, will definitely come back when I visit Sydney again. Or maybe Ho Jiak could venture to Melbourne :p

I don't understand some comments mentioning about the bad service. All the waiting staff was super nice and the food... was REALLY GOOD! Will definitely come back.

Description

Ho Jiak Haymarket is Sydney’s first Malaysian Nyonya grill house and is inspired by the homestyle and street food dishes that Head Chef Junda Khoo grew up cooking with his amah in the family kitchen. Feast on thick, spicy Laksa with chewy al dente egg noodles, rated one of the best in Sydney. Or embrace the Nyonya grill with a grilled tasting platter of lamb cutlets, chicken and seafood, complete with BBQ char lines and chilli sambal sauce. The ground floor of the two-story restaurant is inspired by the street Chef Khoo grew up on in Penang, Lebuh Ah Quee. Up on the first floor, the decor is styled like his grandma’s home, a place full of love and laughter. Welcome to Amah’s Kitchen…
