Mlc Centre 19 - 29 Martin Pl 2000, Sydney
A highly disappointing experience from start to finish. Forget about personalised service this is a money grabbing production line of complete chaos! Once a jewel in the crown this restaurant is all about the view and nothing about the customer. I booked for my husbands birthday 2 months earlier - it made no difference on the day, it was never mentioned. The table wasn't ready when arrived, we sat in a waiting area for 10 minutes without service. We had to get up to find someone. When our table was ready we were seated next to the staff area with a highly obstructed view. We had to ask to move which was met with raised eyebrows as if we were being done a favour. The restaurant was busy, loud with staff running everywhere. Noone took us through a menu, our waiter left us alone the entire night running past asking if it was all ok and disappearing again. The food was lovely but for the price not exceptional. And come on, we've eaten at very nice restaurants and not one of them charge $4.50 for single bread roll! When we asked for the bill our waiter asked how everything was so we told him about our experience. He got his manager who delivered the standard lines, 'it's very surprising, we pride ourselves, your waiter is one of our best...' When I mentioned that we came to Cafe Sydney for a special occasion we were offered a free dessert which we declined. It was obvious we were holding up the manager from her busy night. We paid and left never to return. There are many wonderful vantage points to stare at the harbour at night, don't make it Cafe Sydney.
Lovely view, good ambience. Seafood platter was good, but nothing to write home about, while the meat portion of the pork belly was unexpectedly dry. Great wine selection. Given the other reviews, perhaps I just got a bad lot of belly?
This is a great restaurant in a fantastic building - if you're visiting Sydney you should definitely put this on your list of things to do/places to go. The view is spectacular both night and day. And the food is delicious. It was a very happening place the night I dined there, very busy and buzzing with a very diverse crowd. Worth the splurge!
Great Margaritas and good authentic Aussie cuisine.
Really amazing food and well worth the distance traveled up all the stairs. I would highly recommend this to anyone as all the food is very fresh and absolutely delicious
Great service with a view
WOW! This is the place to wow your friends, colleagues, or a date. The views are second to none with the Sydney harbor, Opera House, and Harbor bridge as the backdrop. Service in Sydney can be lacking a bit, but not at this top notch spot. The friendly staff are spot on and they do it with a genuine smile. All the food dishes are amazing so you can't go wrong. Make sure to book the afternoon because this is no quick meal...this is one you'll want to enjoy.
Sophisticated restaurant, amazing views and beautiful food. flawless service
Friendly staff, spectacular view, and yummy food!
Great atmosphere and views. You don't come here expecting value for money though! $14 for a small bottle of still water
