What to do in Port Arthur

Me and my mates are planning to visit the place in mid January 2021. Do we have to go through the tours for the tickets or can we just get the tickets from the counter like any other sites? Any idea for the ticket prices if we get from the counter?

The absolute highlight of my Hobart trip. You really need at least the whole day here. The cruise and tour are well worth it.

Guides were great - really informative and had a sense of humour as well. It was certainly a good history lesson. The grounds are beautifully maintained. It is a lovely location for a picnic as the trees and wide open grass areas are clean and have fantastic views of the surrounding forrests and buildings. Cafeteria is average. Probably better than what you'd normally get at these types of tourist locations. Plenty of facilities such as toilets that are well maintained. The site itself is very interesting. You can get access to all the buildings and get a good understanding of what life was like. There is a cruise you can do to the island where they buried the bodies which is a nice way to break up the day. Just make sure you book the cruise time as soon as you arrive.

Awesome site with plenty of history The guided walking tour was a massive highlight of my trip to Tasmania. They did a great job The boat tour was a little bit of a let down as you could barely hear the sound of the speaker detailing the history over the sound of the boat and I was sitting inside

This place has historical importance. They have quick guides to provide knowledge about its past. The main building in the front have nothing left but just front part of it. They have removed everything from its actual place. It would have been better if we could see actual stuff where it was placed in past. Need to pay 40$ to enter which i personally feel that its quite expensive.

A place to put on your travels around Tasmania. The history here is amazing. We started our history in Campbell Town walking the street reading the convict bricks the previous day and finished our convict tour here. Fantastic, wear sturdy shoes. Take time to visit and read the history and visit the site.

Was definitely worth the visit. Tickets include a walking introduction tour, boat ride and entrance to the grounds as well as the museum. The site is immaculately preserved but I feel some of the digital additions and glass walkways take away from the rustic authenticity a little.
