The staff in the ice cream section were super friendly and helpful. The servings were generous and overall experience was pleasant. We totally recommend a visit to Mures Lower Deck.

Thier icecreams are very popular, its a pitty they don't stock Tasmanian made ice cream. Nothing on display to say where it is made, but on enquiry I find it's made in Victoria. Sad from a fish place that specialises in locally caught fish.

Poor value for money.... Fisherman's basket was terribly light on... bought more fish elsewhere to make a decent feed from it... second time now in a few months and won't be going back for a 3rd

3.6 The lower deck is a good casual eating place. We grabbed a spot outside by the water as it was a nice evening and it’s also an optimal spot for a bit of people watching. I had grilled salmon with a Caesar salad and chips. The salmon was a nice size and beautifully cooked. It was still nicely moist and altogether very tasty. The salad was a decent size too and reasonably done. The chips padded things out a little but were good as well. Alcohol wasn’t a bad price given the location of the bistro. An added attraction is the free on tap sparkling water. My companions enjoyed their meals too. All in all it’s a good place. A slick and worthy operation. If you’re into chaos it’s worth being outside at Mures Lower Deck to watch what happens when customers leave their table after a meal. The watching seagulls descend on the table in an instant and go for the leftover food. It’s a violent but somewhat entertaining sight that can involve lots of action, noise and even shattered glass. We saw it happen at two tables but avoided it with ours by calling a staff member before we left our table. NB, anyone who was distressed by Hitchcock’s “The Birds” should sit inside.

Fantastic food, great prices. The best value I've creams in Hobart. The single serve ice cream is the equivalent of double in other places. A great selection of icecreams.

One of the best places in Hobart to get fresh seafood at reasonable prices (with great views). The service is friendly and efficient given the fact that they always seem to be busy with flocking tourists and ,y advise would be to go here on a weekday lunch to best enjoy the food. Freshly shucked oysters and lightly friend Calamari - can’t beat that!

Dinner Thursday 7th Jan 4 adults + 6yo. A no fuss open dining hall style environment serving fish and chips. Serving staff were friendly and attentive in a very busy environment. Fish ( and Cray) was of high quality which you would expect being on the wharves of Hobart and no export market to speak of currently!

Food quality is amazing , pricing is reasonable. The place has great views and very friendly staff. The only negative are the toilets. The men’s toilet is appalling at the time of writing this review visited the place twice with in the the week at two different occasions and reported it to the manager on my first visit and no action was taken till the second visit. If you are too full and wanna puke just visit the men’s toilet. I can now smell the toilet in the dining area too, every time some one opens the toilet door- it’s yucky. But leaving aside toilet it’s a good place to dine in. Be prepared to pay for parking no free parking here . There is plenty of parking . May be the management is able to take a quicker action

Description

Jill & George Mure opened Tasmania's first licensed seafood restaurant, Mures Fish House, in 1973 in Hobart. When they struggled to source quality, fresh, local seafood, George went fishing. More than 40 years on, now owned by Will & Jude Mure, Mures remains a favourite of locals and visitors alike, located in Hobart's working fishing port at Victoria Dock. Mures' philosophy of fresh Australian seafood, sourced from sustainably managed fisheries still rings true from the ocean to the plate. At Lower Deck you can enjoy a wide variety of seafood from the licensed Bistro, including Mures' own line caught blue eye trevalla, as you take in the sights and sounds of the waterfront. Start the day off right with breakfast by the docks, served daily from 7am. Check out the vast array of Australian seafood at the Fishmongers including rock lobster, salmon, scallops and mussels, where you can order freshly shucked Tasmanian oysters from the Oyster Bar. Mures' own range of gourmet seafood products, Tasmanian wines, cider and recipe books are also available. Finish off with a local roasted coffee or choose from 32 flavours of ice cream at the Cafe.
