Mures Lower Deck

Victoria Dock Downstairs 7000, Hobart

If you are looking for fine dining this is not it, sadly the excellent food is marred by the atmosphere. Dated, clunky furniture (no tablecloths), dull decor and hit and miss staff. Far to big and crowded to be pleasant. Please go back to your beginnings, small and quality. The food is generous in size and delightful but the dubious surroundings make it less so. Our wine did not arrive until the entrees were served and then the bread rolls came after entree too!

5, Knopwood Street 7000, Hobart

Not easy to find unless you know about it already, but the beer selection was great, and the atmosphere was tops! Nice to have quiet beer now and again, or a get together with a few mates. Might even get you're own set of couches! A must see.

Ball & Chain Grill

87 Salamanca Place 7000, Hobart

I've been here on a number of occasions and on a bad night you get an excellent steak. On a good night (and with their pepper sauce) you get something that cannot be easily described. One word of warning though - I'm now very, very cautious about ordering a steak in any other establishment (no matter what the quality) because it's just going to disappoint me now.

New Sydney Hotel
4.6
/ 524

87 Bathurst St 7000, Hobart

I could be biased, being a local who is at the New Sydney on a regular basis. I love the place. The staff are friendly and Al, the licensee, is one of my favourite people. Saturday sessions are fun and its great when we get interstate visitors who join in and sing some good Irish songs. The New Sydney supports local people doing their thing, whether it be philosophy at the pub, men and bubs, and the musicians. Eclectic and just a little eccentric. . . .that's the New Sydney.

Frank Restaurant and Bar

Very small portion sizes, so go as a group and share, you wont be satisfied if you're hungry. Very interesting food, it was delicious.

Lark Distillery Whisky Bar
4.6
/ 461

14 Davey St 7000, Hobart

The award winning Lark Distillery produces an Australian single malt whisky, proudly unique in character and style, crafted in small batches exclusively from pure Tasmanian ingredients, matured in small barrels, hand-bottled by whisky lovers in Tasmania, for whisky lovers world-wide. Lark Distillery was the first licensed distillery in Tasmania since 1839. It was established in 1992 to produce Australian malt whisky, rich in character with a big finish, using Tasmanian ingredients. Lark Distillery is a unique boutique Tasmanian owned distillery dedicated to maintaining its proven high quality malt whisky and other purely Tasmanian spirits. After reading the above from their web-page we decided to visit this interesting establishment on a sunny Friday evening. The bar was very busy with patrons drinking, talking and listening to the live, country-blue grass swing band. While outside on an expansive lawned area, with views across the harbour, an even larger number of people were eating local delicacies, such as Quail, wallaby and venison, also enjoying the extensive range of Whisky's, Brandy's, Spirits, Liqueurs, local Beers and Wines, being served. To accompany these, cheese boards, ploughman's lunches and various cakes are available. The building is an historical brick building with beamed ceilings, and with the use of corrugated iron around the bar, and full sized barrels used as tables and decorations the look and ambience are very Australian country, a memorable experience.

89 Salamanca Pl Battery Point 7004, Hobart

Very friendly place with excellent service. They are also the only restaurant that I've been to in Australia that doesn't overcook their steaks.
