200 Barangaroo Ave The Canteen, Tower 2 2000, Sydney
Let me preface this review by saying that I know next to nothing about Malaysian food. However, Ipoh town does deliver decent tasting food and is a good option for lunch. I regularly get the laksa and the gravy noodle, both of which are not mind-blowingly delicious but are nonetheless tasty. Don't forget to pick up rendeng if you buy laksa. I'll also reiterate one reviewer in that I also paid extra for wontons in my laksa and only received one. Finally, the queue here gets ridiculous so I suggest buying lunch at midday or pre-purchasing with one of those apps for pick up.
Great food and services. One of the favorite places for lunch in the city.
Ipoh is found within the new Canteen foodcourt of Barangaroo. I went during peak lunch time and there was a long queue. The wait was worth it, one of the best rice noodles in egg broth I've had in Sydney! So many flavours, I couldn't stop eating it even though I was full!
Great service and delicious food! I would recommend laksa soup or pasta with prowns. 👍🏻
This is the first ever I write a review. It is because I was way too dissapointed by Ipoh town Barangaroo. I ordered for take away, Gado - Gado, curry chicken rice and hainanese chicken. The Gado - Gado is nothing like Gado - Gado at all. When I open my take away. I thought I got a wrong dish. It looks like beansprout with soup. I am from Indonesia, I know how Gado - Gado is. Having said that I don't expect the gado - gado to have Tempe, since this is Sydney. But, at least, make the dish look decent as Gado - Gado. To make thing worse. I found a plastic packaging tie in the Gado - gado. I did got my refund for this. But, it will be good to get thing right in the first place. I found weird thing on my food before. I can understand this because human makes mistakes. But, what upset me more is the way they prepare the Gado - Gado. Maybe they can fool people who don't know what Gado - Gado is. The curry chicken rice is not better. The rice was undercook and they serve the curry chicken on the top of rice, which makes the dish less pleasant. Same thing goes for the hainanese chicken rice. The rice is undercook and the chicken is tough - not like hainanese chicken at all. I can't speak for their other dishes. Maybe, their mee goreng or nasi goreng aren't that bad ? Ipoh town, please have some decency when preparing your 3 dishes above. I feel like I have been ripped of. I know that your prices are reasonable. But, customer wouldn't mind to pay more if your food is good. And another thing is you have disgraced Malaysian food by preparing it that way. I don't like to write a bad reviews and I never done that before. It is because, I am thinking about the employees who work in the place where I ordered my food. They need customers to keep their job. But, this time is way too much.
Average Masi Goreng great for a quick bite with taste from Indonesia/Malaysia. The coffee was good though
Laksa is good ,not a normal chilly but full of coconut favor. Hainanese chicken rice you can choose chicken breast or chicken leg for your dish.
I really love the food here especially their milk tea which is good for $3. The nasi lemak with beef rendang is my absolute gavourite. prices are generally more than your usual. limited choices but Highly recommended. Definitely worth a try.
Food was ok, but chicken was way overcooked... not as good as the quality I expected. Their Ipoh Club Chatswood restaurant is better
Laksa is tasteless and too oily - many far better ones to be had in Sydney. Nasi Goreng is bland and dry also. Neither dish comes with anything green either.
