Absolutely the best Malaysian restaurant in Sydney ... superb food ... authentic flavours. Highly recommended

Really delicious and authentic Malaysian food. Also meaning, take the spice level seriously. 1-2 chillies is nice to tolerable. 3 chillies is probably bordering on painful. This is for someone who actually likes spicy food. You can always reduce the heat or get the chilli they add on the side. The hainanese chicken with abalone rice is superb. The signature dishes were really good too. The drinks are actually quite large and not overly sweet. The place is quite charming and the service is quick and efficient. Great experience overall.

Overseas travel always had its drawbacks, and with Ho Jiak bringing the extensive menu and fabulous flavours to Haymarket, we can let our taste buds roam free in complete safety. No jet lag but plenty to write home about, even if you never leave home. Our waiters' charms shine through, even from behind their masks and the food is deliciously authentic.

Highly recommend. We chose the tasting menu and I can tell you there are no regrets whatsoever. Every dish brought to the table was perfect! Service was great and can not be faulted in anyway. The overall experience was outstanding.

Very busy on Mothers day but staff coped and great food. Only complaint is that staff do not know how to pour the on tap beer - half froth which makes for an expensive beer! Will go back again but bottled beer next time.

Quality food, amazing experience. Food is a little pricy but worth every dollar.

Some days food is great, some days good. Still, can't go wrong with Malaysian comfort food. 👌

Food tasted good but a bit on the pricey side for what is essentially cheap Malaysian food. They have a strange rule where if you want to order the set menu, everyone sitting at your table ‘needs to participate’. I don’t understand the logic with that. And the waiters seem a bit too eager to get you fed then out the door, to allow more customers to come through. Fine, but it’s not pleasant feeling rushed like that when you’re trying to enjoy the food and time there with friends.

Description

Ho Jiak Haymarket is Sydney’s first Malaysian Nyonya grill house and is inspired by the homestyle and street food dishes that Head Chef Junda Khoo grew up cooking with his amah in the family kitchen. Feast on thick, spicy Laksa with chewy al dente egg noodles, rated one of the best in Sydney. Or embrace the Nyonya grill with a grilled tasting platter of lamb cutlets, chicken and seafood, complete with BBQ char lines and chilli sambal sauce. The ground floor of the two-story restaurant is inspired by the street Chef Khoo grew up on in Penang, Lebuh Ah Quee. Up on the first floor, the decor is styled like his grandma’s home, a place full of love and laughter. Welcome to Amah’s Kitchen…
