One the best Malaysian restaurants I've had the pleasure of stuffing my face at! Spicy levels are legit spicy so be warned 🔥But the food is flavourful and generous in size. The milky desserts are also yummy, especially after all the spicy food.

Great for quality Malaysian cuisine, friendly staff. Usually quite busy but also good for takeaway. It is on the expensive side but I used Liven and got a decent deal. It's about 10 minutes walk to the train station

Good place for late night Malaysian food. Lots of options. Good food. Some are just a bit salty to my taste. Very nice decoration, you feel like you are sitting on the side of a street vendor in Asia

Nice food but compared to other Asian restaurants around it's a little more pricey (most dishes over $20 per serve) because of some exxy ingredients like scallops, lobster and truffle.

We returned to Ho Jiak after over 2 years and the food was still as good as we remember. Really can't fault this place. There was a solid line of people waiting to get in but the staff were efficient and we were seated promptly. The drinks arrived quickly, the food was excellent. Won't be waiting 2 years to come back hopefully.

Food here is tasty and pretty authentic at the Haymarket restaurant in Chinatown. They have all the usual malaysian favourite hawker dishes like the Hainanese Chicken rice, Char Koay Teow, Indomie Goreng, Laksa, Char Hor Fun, Nasi Lemak and Classic dishes like Hainanese Chicken, Beef rendang, etc. My usual favourite is Roast Chicken egg noodles/chicken rice and Fried carrot cake that I really enjoy since they sell it. Food here is on the pricey side for malaysian food and a popular hawker dishes is around $20 mark now. Feel that the portion size also shrink about 20% now with the increase in price . Overall the food is good and it's recommended to come as a group to eat and share for the whole malaysian dinning experience.

A delightful two-story restaurant for Malaysia food. Arrived about half an hour after their opening on the day, and there was a queue for over 10 people already. We waited about 20 minutes and got a small table upstairs where it looks like a grandma’s home. Ordered the Hainan Chicken Rice and we were impressed with the seasoned rice which was oily but flavourful. The soup was served warm and slightly oily so best to finish before it gets cold. I cannot believe that we ordered the Char Koay Kak from the Appetizer list. This was a mistake as we had wanted the Char Koay Teow.  But unexpectedly it tasted good with the fried radish cake though a little bit heavy. Staff were busy but quite nice and showed great patience when I encountered a problem making the payment on the phone. Would like to come back and try more dishes.

Went there for lunch with my colleagues today and we were seated upstairs. Food was fantastic and it is highly recommended if you are looking for authentic Malaysian food. Excellent service from the waiter with orange hair.

Top quality Malaysian, with nice and attentive service. Lovely colourful food with lots of flavour and delicious authentic drinks. Excellent operating hours and great value for money. Decor and mood suits both a casual lunch or a night out. There are two levels, but the table setting feels cramped to the point where you cannot have a private conversation if someone is sitting next to you. Sometimes there's line on the weekend, but their food is worth the wait.

Description

Ho Jiak Haymarket is Sydney’s first Malaysian Nyonya grill house and is inspired by the homestyle and street food dishes that Head Chef Junda Khoo grew up cooking with his amah in the family kitchen. Feast on thick, spicy Laksa with chewy al dente egg noodles, rated one of the best in Sydney. Or embrace the Nyonya grill with a grilled tasting platter of lamb cutlets, chicken and seafood, complete with BBQ char lines and chilli sambal sauce. The ground floor of the two-story restaurant is inspired by the street Chef Khoo grew up on in Penang, Lebuh Ah Quee. Up on the first floor, the decor is styled like his grandma’s home, a place full of love and laughter. Welcome to Amah’s Kitchen…
