Stopped by here for a quick lunch before spending the day at the Port Arthur Historic Site. Ordered a gourmet beef burger and half a dozen of oysters. Oysters were freshly shucked and tasted extremely fresh (bonus point for being served on ice). Burger was juicy with bacon and fresh lettuce and tomato. Although slightly messy to eat, flavours were all on point! Service can be a bit slow, especially when a busloads of tours arrive crowd the one and only place with food around the area. Price is also acceptable, especially when they are the only restaurant around.
Acceptable food, cake and coffee (and prices), with friendly helpful staff, especially for such a busy tourist location.
Not much ambiance here since it's a small market combined with a food service counter and a few tables and chairs. We had a pretty good egg roll for breakfast, but it was the seafood basket we had for lunch that blew us away! It was very, very good, and a great deal considering it's big enough for two people to share. We highly recommend coming here for their amazing seafood basket!
Relaxed cafe friendly staff, nice selection of meals interesting gift items. Close to port arthur historic site.
Nice and friendly service. Between 8pm and 8:30pm you can still buy stuff but you've to enter through the main entrance of the restaurant.
There is no denying the rich historical significance of Port Arthur. In my opinion the self-guided tour is the best option for taking it all in. I too was a little disappointed with the boat/Isle of the Dead tour. It felt rushed and that the tourist were a hindrance. That being said, do not be discouraged from enjoying the rest of the site. There is history, drama, and architecture to be explored and marveled at. Overall an enlightening and rich experience.
