Gabriel's on the Bay Restaurant

Absolutely delicious. This restaurant is awesome. Quality of food was superb and the service excellent. Staff very friendly, attentive and obliging. Decor was warm and friendly. Very clean throughout.

Went with my JPT Tours group of 6 and everything was perfect. All the staff were absolutely amazing and so helpful. Thank you guys so much. Customers enjoyed their meals and were very happy. Location of the restaurant and views from inside the restaurant were beautiful. I would definitely recommend Gabriel’s for future tour groups as well as friends and family.

Amazing food, and lovely outlook for dinner. Had the quail salad and steak for main and both were a stand out and generous servings. The only thing I didn't like was the set menu - 2 courses for $55 for 3 for $65. Enough options to pick from though so still rate it 5 stars

Visited Port Arthur as part of our family holiday. Travelled with 3 young children all under 6. It was an amazing place to stop for meals. It is situated within a Lodge. The restaurant/bar is classy and had an impressive water view. The restaurant had a corner of books and toys for the children and a kids menu. Food was yum! And their kids corner was a bonus that kept them entertained. Will definitely visit again when we next come to Tassie.

Good food, but lack of service S43°8.328' E147°51.351' Gabriel’s is part of the Stewart’s Bay Lodge. Gabriel’s is mainly the restaurant for the Bay Lodge guests, but they also accept outside guests, highlighting local produce. Gabriel’s has a luxury wooden interior with a wood-burning stove and a great outside view. Reservations are recommended. In February of 2020, we ordered a seafood tasting platter for two people: a selection of today’s seafood tapas, battered fish of the day, battered scallops, crispy fries and salad AU$90 for two. Our selection of wine was the Break Creek Riesling white wine ($45), because we like the combination of seafood and Riesling. The seafood was well prepared, tasted excellent and made in combination with the wine an enjoyable dinner. We finished with the vegan vanilla bean coconut panna cotta: torched citrus, berry compote, raspberry sorbet and ruby chocolate shard ($15). The table service started well with the presentation of the wine, but our 7.30pm reservation caused problems with the closing of the kitchen. This happened earlier in another restaurant with an 8pm reservation. Meantime, all guests left the restaurant and waiters started rearranging the tables. They forgot to clear our table and asked for dessert. We left with a malfunction in the service: do not accept reservations if you do not allow your guests enough time to enjoy their dinner.

A nice dining room with a really lovely view of the bay. The food at lunch was good enough, but I suspect they put most of their effort into their dinnertime meals.
