Just love it. Amazing food.
Whatever this placed used to be, it ain't it anymore. The first thing you'll notice is that it's understaffed, although once ordered, the food does come out quickly. My friend ordered the kogashi (burnt) ramen and it was burnt alright. It tasted like a Summernats burnout. I've never seen someone so deflated - he said the decline in quality at Gogyo/Ippudo over the past couple of years was palpable. I had the special tonkotsu and it was decent, but the broth was thin and watery. The less said about the karaage chicken the better - it had the appearance, consistency and taste of a rubber chicken. Please note this is a group opinion and not the ramblings of a lone Karen
Repeat visitor and love this place. Top 3 ramen in Sydney (chaco bar and manpuku). The venue is decked out perfect and ambience is great. Larger than most small ramen places. Range is quality rather than quantity. Almost every ramen offering is delicious with a great offering of smaller dishes too. Highly recommended.
Hands down probably the best Ramen place in Sydney. But definitely need to have a booking and the wait can be quite long.
Got surprised by its Japanese beer range as they have my favourite Orion! The entire dishes are creative and delicious, highly recommended the Wasabi prawn avocado dip & beef spring roll (a bit salty tho).
Had the chashu gohan, tonkotsu, gyoza, karaage and sake. Personally, I was expecting alot more from this restaurant as I have tried ippudo from malaysia and singapore and it did not live up to my expectations Karaage was crispy but wouldve preferred it if it was more juicy Gyoza was flavourful and crispy but was a little dry to my liking. The ramen was very ordinary. Kind of like your typical Joe. Not much to reminisce about. The sake was decent The only redeeming factor was the chashu gohan surprisingly. The seasonings complimented the hearty and flavourful meal. Would've ordered 2 bowls for myself if I had more room for food. Overall an 8/10. Kind of overrated being branded as Sydney's best ramen spots. Would come back again to try their chicken broth ramen. Maybe I missed oit on something.
Veggie udon is good! Nice atmosphere
The ramen is spectacular - highly recommend. Pushing us out by 9pm however just isnβt cool when you donβt get served as a group of 5 until 8pm. 9.30 would have been perfectly acceptable. No need to rush people out. Thanks!
Unfortunately, Gogyo didn't meet our expectations. We went on a Saturday evening; their first shift. Because it's a popular place, the bar was crowded and, due Covid, the time-in was limited. The staff was a bit overwhelmed and the service slow. So, we had to hurry to eat our ramen. On the other side, the atmosphere is cozy and well-designed. The presentation is great and the portions generous. The dishes were ok, but the only vegetarian option. In our opinion, it needs to be improved and work on the flavour.
Good ramen, one of the best in Sydney. The kogashi ramens were fantastic. Highly recommend this place to any ramen lover.
