What to do in Port Arthur

Me and my mates are planning to visit the place in mid January 2021. Do we have to go through the tours for the tickets or can we just get the tickets from the counter like any other sites? Any idea for the ticket prices if we get from the counter?

You must try after dark package(ghost tour with dinner). The tour is very exciting with a very nice story teller. The dinner package combine entry and main dish. Half dozen oyster is cheaper than in habort city. Deer is my favorite ~

Beautiful area, historic buildings which were formal penal colonies. Lake with a boat to show you a water view if you like. Two

Not bad, a bit pricey. Coke vendor machine in the old church was a bit off. Cafe in the jail was not much better.

So much history here. If you like Australian history, colonial buildings and beautiful gardens this is the place for you. The longer you spend here the better.

The history drew us there. The settlement was interesting, but very limited. We were recommended to go to Point Puer by staff, prior to a walking tour around the colony buildings. Point Puer is a totally pointless and wasted trip, that cost an additional $20 over and above the exorbitant $40 charged to get into the place. There is nothing to see except a few scattered remnants of a bygone settlement. Saved from total disaster (barely) by the knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. My recommendation? Don't waste your money or time. Our first destination in our Tasmania holiday; so disappointing.

Must visit when you are in Port Author. My guide is knowledgeable. You will appreciate the history of Australia better. Spent 6 hours here.

A really great day out, 90 min drive from Hobart. Entry price includes a 40 minute introduction to the site, led by a knowledgeable guide and a 20 min boat cruise. You can then walk around the site, exploring all the buildings and gardens.

Great place to visit if you have a spare 3 hours. Food was not great at cafe by asylum. Beautiful views and old buildings were restored very well.

Wow! What an experience it was to explore the Port Arthur historical site. I had no idea of the rich history of the area. Our tour guide was fantastic and gave us a humorous and informative introductory tour of the property before we headed off on our own. The seperate prison was a highlight with the cells recreated and sounds coming from behind the doors. Lots of facilities available across the park such as food and drinks, toilets etc.
