Rocked up on a Saturday night without a booking, this is not recommended. Even though the wonderfully decorated space is huge, we had to wait nearly 2 hours for a table. Which was fine since we didn't mind waiting around and just popped into the Shady Pines for a few cocktails. Service was brilliant, food couldn't be faulted but I didn't find anything memorable about the dishes we had. I'd probably go here if you can't get a seat at Ms. G's. Fair warning, they do serve different types of food. Also, Dan Hong was in the kitchen while we were eating so that was a plus as well.

Hidden behind Bridge Street, Mr Wong is an exciting new place that has great ambience and is not overpriced. The dumplings are exquisite, and the wine list impressive. Recommend a table by the kitchen, or at the bar, to chat to the friendly staff.

Great place for nice lunch and dinner, need a pre-booking to avoid long queuing. Happy to walk in if no booking. Secret place for lunch or dinner with the love ones. I would come to Mr Wong just for the setting. The walk down the alley, the entrance to the bar, the peking duck display and then the staircase down to the main dining floor - it's like setting off on a little adventure in itself. Luckily the food does live up to the decor. In love with the dumplings and the cocktails do not disappoint. My only complaint is too many other Sydney-siders have discovered this gem, making it rather busy all nights of the week.

Food ranged from very good to excellent. The service, like the rice was cold and without personality. The interior was spectacular with a well broken up space and considerate lighting to give an intimate feel. The great disappointment was the lack of hospitality, they were intent to push you through like a cheap Chinese joint. A real shame considering the outstanding food and design elements.

Early dinner with a friend, first time to dine here on the recommendation of a workmate. The place is absolutely amazing, such a fantastic venue. It was quiet when we got there but filled up very quickly so booking ahead would definitely be recommended. I had the hot and sour soup which was the best i've ever had! the steamed dumplings were good, but the duck was out of this world!! The servers were really friendly, efficient and not too formal. definitely want to get back here with a big group sometime!

Dinner at Mr Wong's was an amazing experience. The decor was eclectic with chinese influences and english influences - it had a west meets east feel inside. The food was delicious with interesting combinations and looked fantastic on the plate. The chinese duck was a highlight as was the spicy tofu creation. The toilets are well worth a visit - a trip down an asian opium den!

I loved the decor of this place - it is very old style Chinese furnishing & decorations mixed in with contemporary elements. We were there for lunch and tried their dim sum menu. The food that we had was excellent and it tasted better than your average Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Highly recommended dishes are the Xiao Long Bao and the Foie Gras prawn toast. The prices for the dim sums range from $9 to $12 so it's slightly more pricey than your usual Chinese yum cha places. However the food are not as oily as I usually expect from yum cha dishes so that was really good. The staff are all friendly and helpful and their service was very good. Overall I enjoyed my first visit to Mr Wong and I will certainly go back again to try out the rest of their menu and their desserts!

Mr. Wong is Chinese food at its best! Book ahead or arrive early if you want a seat. The space is very impressive, dark lit and the food is cooked right in front of you. Their speciality is the peking duck, you can get a half serve, whole duck or have it in the pancakes, I suggest the latter. Their fried rice is one of the best I have ever had, perfectly washed down with some if their amazing cocktails. It is expensive, but well worth it.

Excellent service - the place is at full capacity and runs like clockwork. Wonderful staff and decor transports u to another era. Food is O.K. Peking duck was a slight disappointment - more of a normal roast duck sliced Peking style. Skin wasn't very crispy. Wouldnt order it again. The meat was somewhat tasteless. Their custom duck oven is more for roast Chinese rather than for Peking style duck. Yum cha steamed sampler - scallops and prawn and sui leung baw were similar to what is available at Din Tai Fung and Chinatown. The steamed mushroom dumpling was delicious. Fresh veges were perfectly cooked - but who goes there for that??? Fried icecream was OK. Tables are way too small so be careful if u order too many things.
