We enjoyed a spectacular experience last night at Lumi. First time for all our group and certainly won’t be the last.
We intended on selecting the 10 course menu but were easily (and correctly) migrated to the 14 course premium menu. Did not go with the wine pairing as some of the group were put off by the sake and other fortifieds on the selection but with 4 people we were able to enjoy and incredible array of wines, all Italian in the end.
The food was mind blowing. Beautiful, balanced, clever, challenging against traditional flavour pairings and ultimately satisfying!
The expert assistance on hand to navigate the wine list was much appreciated (and needed!) and nailed it every time. It really brought out the best in both the wine and the dishes and we tried some new Italian styles as well.
Finally , the energy in the room at Lumi is something that many restaurants lack. It’s fun, warm and convivial. It makes you want to have more fun when you are there and does not fall into the ‘food temple’ trap that so often occurs in fine dining venues when guests are too scared to laugh out loud and make some noise - great stuff
Bravo.
