125 York St 2000, Sydney
Menu has been trimmed severely due to Covid19 but what they serve was all very nice and tasty. The laska sauce was best in Sydney! Local dishes spruced up several notches. A most enjoyable meal. And the fried fish skin with salted egg is a must have!
Decor, service and presentation is fantastic and if you dont mind paying more $ for aesthetics, then this place ticks all the boxes! I had an enjoyable girl's catch up at Ho Jiak on Sunday, we ordered a variety of dishes to share along with a couple of cocktails each. Food was tasty and nicely presented, they did get an order wrong but our dish was promptly replaced. As a malaysian I find the price tag extravagant however, many of the dishes is fusion style which you'll expect to pay a bigger price tag particularly located in the CBD. Happy to go back and try other dishes, a pleasant dining experience overall.
I would never go again. I was intrigued because of social media but I was sorely disappointed both times. First time my two colleagues and I Had it delivered. We spent $100 and received two standard sized round boxes - one of them the laksa and the other was a $50 fried chicken. There was also a $12 black rice dessert which was literally just filled to 1cm thick. They may claim that they use good ingredients, but itβs just hard to see the value in what we are getting especially when we have spent so much money but werenβt full after. Second time I went in person with husband and we were both disappointed as well - just felt like the price didnβt justify the food. But the nail in the coffin was when they wouldnβt honour their double the Dine and Discover voucher because I hadnβt put the code in the booking, which I felt was really inflexible.
Very good food and service. Price is hard to justify. Personally I prefer the menu at the Haymarket store.
Thoroughly enjoyed eating at Ho Jiak! The food was excellent and the salted duck egg chicken wings were a showstopper for me. Amazing menu and Iβll be back for sure. The service was excellent and the staff were so attentive and anticipated what we needed before asking. Thank you Ho Jiak for an extraordinary dining experience ... will definitely be back with a crowd. Keep up the good work ππ½ππ½ππ½ππππͺπ½πβ¨βοΈβ¨πππ½ππ½ππ½
The ambience and food was great. Food was a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Also, thank you Caleb for your lovely service and food recommendations . The laksa bomb is definitely highly recommended if this is your first time!
The staff is courteous and humble. Tolerated big office party and the level of noise and nuisance that comes along with the big crowd. Food was awesome. Well done guys.
It is really nice place, and it is Malaysian cuisineβ¦ For Entrees!! Highly recommended ππΌππΌ Laksa Bomb, Salt and pepper tofu skins, King prawns satay For mains!!! Recommended ππΌππΌ Char koay teow w Marron, chill mud crab, Amahs chap choy
Every dish we had was delicious. Full of flavour and I enjoyed how they didnt hold back on seasoning. Getting a table near the entrance secluded from the main dining area made dining with friends a great experience.
Malaysian with extra flavours! Street food meets luxury ... Ho Jiak has always provide flavourful food, mi goreng is always my fave but when I saw bone marrow I had to get it ... Oh my it was rich and the sauce made it so flavourful ... All I need is roti or rice and I can sleep on it.
