Regular visitor to Coogee and lots of new start restaurants obviously replacing ones that have failed. Tropicana has been here for all the times I have visited and there's a reason - it is without doubt one of the best not just in Coogee but in Sydney. The pasta marinara is a recipe obviously given to them by the angels - none better anywhere (and I travel for a living). Staff are professional and always friendly. Service is fantastic, like the coffee and the cake display (although the main courses are so big that fitting dessert in is a feat in itself). Other dishes look fantastic - tried a few but not all! If you haven't been to Tropicana then it's worth the trip - even if you are visiting Perth! But don't tell anyone as I want to make sure they have a table for me when I get there. FANTASTIC!!!

Great place to hang out. Great food

This will be the last time that I visit this café. Over the years, it's had its moments when the food and service were decent. Yet recently, the place feels tired, with its used-by date well and truly over. The food and coffee are still okay—not great, just okay, and sometimes verging on substandard. But the service has taken a severe dive, with most of the backpacker waitresses showing no interest in serving or taking orders. The other day, my friend and I waited for more than 10 minutes to place an order, because the waitress was too busy reading the paper and trying to complete what looked like a crossword puzzle. The poor thing was definitely overworked so could not take our order—or even pay us the courtesy of a glance in our direction. I've had this sort of disrespectful and pathetic service on several occasions recently, and I've had enough of it and the backpacker waitresses with their I'm-too-good-to-be-working-here princess attitudes. If you're too good to be working here, then don't. Simples! These same waitresses lack even the basic respect to offer customers a bottle of tap water while waiting, as if customers were camels not requiring anything to drink. Anyway, with the vast number of good cafés at Coogee Beach, there's certainly no need to waste one's time here, waiting for poor service with nasty attitude.

Got the schnitty and the wife got the calamari salad. The portions were good, calamari was tender and the sweet chilli mayo was a nice touch. As you can see in the photo you get two schnitties but they were a tad overcooked and dry. Could have done with a lemon wedge but no matter. The two girls at the front of house did a great job. The girl behind the coffee machine brought out the food. I asked her for some tomato sauce and she said ketchup? Sure, but then proceeds to go back to the coffee machine and start on other drinks. So I ask one of the two front girls, she walks to the fridge and brings me back a bottle and leaves it on the table. Perfect.

Outstanding coffee, seems to be no matter what you have it will be nice, 1st place in Sydney I found with proper British style breakfast including hp sauce, wish I could have tried the lovely cakes but was full

I came here for breakfast this morning, we were the first ones to enter the cafe and our meals took around half an hour and the people next to us came later and got our food. We asked and got not even a response. It finally came and we got half of the meal we paid for so we had to ask again and she bought it and not even an apology. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED.

The service was quite nice and so was the fish stew, it had delicious flavour and was perfect with the crusty bread. We didn't really enjoy the pork ribs though, found them far too peppery and unfortunately quite dry.

Waited a while for food when it arrived it was cold then charged $28.10 for a big breakfast and a coffee didn’t have the patience to argue their mistake just wanted to get out of there. Coffee was good
