41 The Strand 5212, Port Elliot
Sorry to say that the food here was terrible. I was so optimistic but was hugely let down. We had the Dry Tuna with bland sauces and a very tough Kangaroo which I'm still chewing a day later. The fried prawns where ok but the didn't even bother to clean them. The staff are really nice kids but they are kids. In experience in describing the food and wine selection. Company was brilliant though.
Good food and service Sorbet was good
Booked as this restaurant was highly recommended. Never again. Staff were capable. Food was a disappointment. The descriptor 'pretentious' comes to mind. Overpriced fairly basic fare. A shame really. Venue is delightful.
We enjoyed celebrating a birthday at Thunderbird on a Wednesday evening. Attentive & respectful staff. Beautifully crafted locally sourced food..... We will be back!
I ordered the mussels and my partner the squid. Both were extremely salty but particularly the mussels. It was quite unpleasant and hard to eat. The wine was very nice and service ok. Would return for a wine but not the food. It's a shame as the venue itself was very nice.
The table staff service was informative and friendly. The quality of the food and choice of drinks was local and fine quality. Small glitch, dude with the black framed glasses was less than welcoming and arrogant, bordering on rude!! Would’ve been a 5 out of 5. Get rid of the arrogant one!!
Loved it. Great service. Delicious cuisine and generous serves. Warm atmosphere with beautiful open fire and art work on display
Great place to stop for lunch in Port Elliott. Bit fancier than other places, priced to match. Good quality food. Nice decor. Clean, spacious feeling. Great artwork on the walls plus a small gallery on the side. Really enjoyed the bread as our starter. Definitely happy to come back for a special occasion meal.
We ordered two plates of the lamb and one kangaroo. The young waitress said there might have only two lamb dishes left, checked and came back to advise lamb was out. We changed our order to three kangaroos, then 5 minutes later she came back to say they had managed to find two lambs so back to our original order. We were wondering where the lamb had come from. The food was good but let down by an hour wait, the kangaroo dish was missing the finger lime on the orange salad, which we received when we mentioned it. Lack of communication and the long wait was a let down for the delicious food.
Fit us in last minute which was very nice. Great service, good atmosphere, and fantastic food. We returned the next day too just for a coffee and even that was good.
