You must try the no. 1 vanilla slice in the world.

Just passing by this Historic town in early morning, I was really impressed by the serenity and purity. The signature vanilla slice cake is a bit too sweet for us but it’s personal preference for the full-custard cake. Send love to their dog Lilla.

Bought a lamb pie, scallop pie, tomato veg soup with sourdough roll and a vanilla slice. Must say it probably was the best Vanilla slice I've had. And the soup and roll were 👌 I put the perfect roll down to their wood fire oven. The pies weren't my thing but that wasn't on the bakery.

If you have time for only one stop, driving from Hobart to Devonport, stop here at Ross. This village is really cute. There is this excellent bakery, a nice bridge to see, and an historic walk you can take with a beautiful old Methodist church. You can easily spend one hour here and then continue on your trip. I got their famous vanilla slice and it was excellent, exactly as they said.

Conveniently located in the main street of historic Ross, this bakery is very popular. They proudly brag having the best vanilla slice in Tassie and from my experience sampling bakeries across the island they weren't wrong. That's saying a lot given the quality of slices I experienced in other bakeries including at Richmond. They also had a really good pepper steak pie. There are plenty of really good food options. They have inside table dining, court yard table dining and tables out the front. Very popular and very worth the visit. It is also a beautiful historic town.

Love their vanilla slice (snot blocks) they truly are the best but at $6.90. However, $6.90 for a tiny little bit of salad as an add-on is stiff with a veg pastie also $6.90. Heckle cake not much chop, bland, and at $6.90 ea left a bitter taste. Total $27.90 makes it very expensive. Will not do that again.
