The Metz

Went there last night for pizza. I can't help but be impressed with the quality of food on offer in Launceston. A wonderful atmosphere and although I was there with my sister it would be a great place to take a date! When u walk in there is a casual area with leather couch and then a bar that runs the length of restaurant. The barman seemed to know what he was doing as he mixed some lovely looking cocktails. We had a beer and glass of wine and shared a sensational pasta salad followed by the margherita pizza topped with prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella! Delicious. The service was first class , experienced and friendly. Highly recommend!

Great birthday lunch. The staff were attentive and friendly, the menu varied, good wine selection including local tipples (with added raspberries and cream). We started late so we were there after closing time but they were perfectly lovely about it and didn’t rush us or make us feel uncomfortable. The decor has been renewed and it’s much quieter than before. Totally recommend.

Fantastic food and incredible staff! I left my hat and sunglasses at the restaurant before flying back to Sydney. David, from the Metz, happily organised to send them back! I'm very thankful for their help.

What a great place in the heart of Launceston. Really good gourmet dishes including some vegan options. Really impressed with food, ambience and service.

I've been to the Metz 3 times since moving to Launceston and I've felt very differently after each experience. The meals here just aren't consistent enough for me. Last time I went, I was looking forward to it greatly as the previous time I went the food was really good. On my most recent visit, I ate a few different small plates and sides, shared a pizza, and shared a dessert. I didn't like any of the food, really. Flavours clashed, things were greasy, there was undercooked pumpkin, and dry cake. And to top it off, I was left feeling nauseous when I went home. I like restaurants that I go to be consistent. I don't want it to be great one night, then unpleasant the next. I think after the last time, I won't be going to the Metz again.

Fantastic place to have a family dinner. Food was terrific and both decor and ambience very cool. Staff friendly. Only downside was the wait for food. We waited for 45 mins when we were starving ! At these prices I expect speed to also be part of the package. If you set low expectations around food wait times I would recommend. If not go somewhere else to avoid frustration.

One of the best pizza’s I’ve ever had!! Absolutely rate and highly reccomend for affordability and stunning interior design - 11/10 for waiter Jamie as well, fantastic service!

The food is really good, and the staff are next level in their service, been a few times and never been disappointed. A handy tip, don't order an Entree & main, unless your really hungry 😁 The Calamari Salad is amazing.

Simply the best pizzas I have had in a long time. They are a good size and very tasty with a good range of toppings. The drinks are nice also. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it is worth trying. 😊
