Beer selection is good. Food was great and staff friendly, straight through to security. Rooftop is brilliant.

Looks nice enough, but super busy and didn't seem worth all the fuss

I'm going to come out and say it - this is the best rooftop bar in Sydney. The revamp last year was perfectly executed such that the locals are happy with a tasteful downstairs bar that keeps the classic pub feel and outdoor seating, functions can be had on the middle floor with a pool room or two, and, most importantly, the rooftop got a stunning overhaul giving it more room, a refreshed bar and an outdoor set of stairs to the kitchen below so you no longer run into waiters bringing up plates of food in the internal staircase. And the view, oh the view - Sydney harbour at its finest. This is the kind of find as a tourist that will make your trip and there's a reason why it's difficult to find a table if there's even just a little bit of sun. Highly recommended.

The rooftop is fantastic. Chockers when I was there, but they still served dinner fast. And holy cow, the parma is amazing. Swanky bathrooms, really friendly staff, I was glad we accidentally wandered in.

Description

The Glenmore Hotel was built by Brewers Tooth & Co in 1921 and has been an Aussie icon ever since. It is one of the last surviving pre- Harbour Bridge buildings on Cumberland Street, north of the Cahill Expressway. The site is known to have been occupied from the early years of 1800, although it is likely that, like the other ridges of The Rocks, it was occupied by the encampment of settlers in the first weeks of the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788. With its colonial old English charm and character, The Glenmore has been a popular watering hole, which has survived depressions, wars and plagues. This hidden gem in The Rocks was starting to show her age and in early 2012 it was closed for refurbishment for 9 months of loving restoration. The building itself is heritage listed for it’s traditional Rocks pub allure.
