Nice and cozy atmosphere...booking essential to avoid disappointment. Great spot for pre-show dinners. Always find the wait staff very efficient and friendly. Good wine list and specials. The menu does change up a bit every now and then. The starters are very fun and different. We had the crab tart and zucchini flowers this time around. And gnocchi and mushroom truffle risotto for our mains. Meal was finished off with a bomb Alaska.

Service and food were exceptional, but difficult to overlook the prices, definitely at the upper end of most reasonable budgets.

I spent a month in Melbourne on a business trip, and this is one of the few places that kept me from becoming homesick. Great service and food. Period. The organic steamed vegetables, for example, is one of the best dishes I’ve had anywhere. Fresh vegetables coupled with the perfect seasoning.

What a fabulous place for breakfast, staff were great, fast service with food was exactly what I needed to enjoy.

Well executed tightly edited menu with European style service (to align with the name). I imagine covid has made them reduce the wine list.

For such a stylish venue it's good to report that staff are efficient and helpful, with no touch of arrogance (unlike other CBD breakfast venues). And, of course, this is as it should be! Being stylish or trendy should never coincide with being haughty and inhospitable, especially in a hospitality venue! The vibe at The European is on the dignified side but we, widely travelled cafe goers, felt right at ease and had no problem finding good things in the menu. In fact, for me, one of the tests of excellent food and customer service is the ability to create a meal from the extras menu and have it prepared and presented with grace. Although avocado and Vegemite on a toasted bakery item is a veritable breakfast of the gods, it's not always on menus, but I had no trouble creating this duet on the base of a Dr Marty's Crumpet at The European. Delish! Service and style - thank you.

Excellent food and service in a beautiful little Cafe opposite parliament. Slightly pricey, there are definitely places with better value for money in Melbourne but it's nice to go to occasionally.

Best steak meal I've had in a long time. The staff excellent, can't wait to visit Melbourne again to dine here again

Great wine bar and restaurant, probably the best in Melbourne.
