A modern and contemporary spin on Japanese cuisine - delicious! And our waiter gave great service, made us feel welcome and answered all of our questions. Although, the value of the banquet wasn’t great compared to other fine dining restaurants, the serving sizes were too small for sharing (even the mains). Left feeling hungry. Better to order extensively off the menu. A different waiter randomly gave us our bill and told us another table was coming while we were still eating and had 35 minutes left of our booking! Not a courteous waiter move.

The food was beautiful however we were seated outside on very small stools with very low lighting, we had to use our phone torches to see our food. It was extremely loud from the surrounding nightclubs and people. Next time we go we will make sure we have a table inside.

We were recommended Shobosho through our wine tasting travels and boy they were not wrong! Shobosho delivers fantastic food, a great atmosphere and the staff were very attentive during our three hour long dinner! Would definitely again when we return to Adelaide. The Crab Udon was an absolute highlight, creamy and delicious! Thank you for a great experience!

It’s difficult to compare Shobosho to anything else in Adelaide because it’s in a league of its own. The soho vibe and friendly service is just the beginning with the food and drinks taking this venue to the next level. We cleaned off every plate and struggled to restrain ourselves from picking up the dishes and drinking the remnant sauces... too good! A highlight was the pork cutlet sandwich - wish mum had packed one of these in my school lunchbox instead of mustard pickles, ham and lettuce - could eat it everyday

Got the $75 tasting menu and was left disappointed. Quantity over quality it seemed because although there was heaps of food, some of it was pretty sub par for a restaurant of this repute. The entree of lotus chips and tuna salad was nothing special, any old shop can throw the salad together although the fish seemed fresh. The wood fired leek was interesting and different, although about a third as much would have been good. Gyoza/pot stickers were again nothing incredible. The stand out dish was the udon in seafood bisque. I genuinely enjoyed this very different take on udon. Teryaki chicken and spring onion bread were the low light of the meal, the chicken was bland, the sauce thin and not very flavoursome. Bread was just heavy doughy and not enjoyable. Dessert of coconut ice cream and freeze dried pineapple was tasty, but doesn't seem super inspired to me. Overall, what I might expect for a $50pp hotel meal, not a $75 well reviewed restaurant.

Having heard a lot about this restaurant, I was excited to visit with some friends. Their Instagram shows beautiful food! Unfortunately the experience was let down by mostly everything. Despite being open quite late, by the time we got there they had run out of 4 of the main dishes. It started with "a lot is sold out" and after questioning a few times, we were finally told what items had sold out. Their response "ah well, what is one to do". The remaining menu was mostly seafood, so it was a bit tricky choosing other items for non-seafood eaters, however we did so - and what we did order was quite nice. In saying that, the staff were rude - as if they were doing you a favour being there. Personally, I like going to a restaurant and having a good experience. It's those restaurants I'll return to and highly recommend. Despite the negative, we watched the head chef send back a few of our orders (before they arrived) as they didn't seem to be happy with what was dished up. Sadly, the staff and stock levels of this restaurant were what let it down, and I don't think I'll be returning.

Interesting Asian fusion primarily based on Japanese food. Some work, others don’t. Overall, the taste was good, but the crab udon was a bit strange. However, we didn’t really appreciate being rushed to pay the bill by a Caucasian male server with black hair almost as soon as we finished our food, whereas there were other people at the bar who came in before us. That was just rude and we walked out of the restaurant feeling unwelcome.

At Shōbōsho we blend smoke, steam, and fire; ancient traditions of Japanese yakitori, with the finesse, skill & texture of all that is raw, cured, pickled and fermented. From a specially-commissioned cooking line consisting of a wood oven, hydraulic grill, rotisserie and customised yakitori pit, the element of fire will speak through simply seasoned, seared meats and vegetables. The menu takes a journey through raw to cooked, with yakitori, noodles, dumplings, bao, robata grilled and spit roasted meats. Our bar and kitchen operates all day. From lunch, to snacks with afternoon sakes, and right into the night. SHŌ Shō is an intimate 8-seater yakitori bar where charcoal-grilled sticks take centre stage in this casual spin-off of our main restaurant.
