335 Elizabeth St North Hobart 0, Hobart
Had dinner here with my family today around 6pm, found a little bug in my food when I almost finished and there was a tiny hair on the veggie when the food was came in, talked to the staff and they tried to make me believe that it is not their fault...I was then offered 10% off for my whole bill. I can't stop feeling sick after got home, maybe it's just a bad luck but definitely we won't be back.
I used to come to Saigon every week when I resided in Tassie because me and my family really love the laksa here. My mum actually suggested coming here and everyone seemed enthusiastic and of course I wanted to compare the food as the new owners have since over the place. It has had a couple of name changes and is now Saigon Express. Saigon Express is located in the thriving North Hobart precinct, surrounded by the best restaurants and cafes. Hobart have started a bit of renaissance since my arriving as it's now got a buzz about it now with the arrivals of many Asian (finally!!!) stores and restaurants. A story for another time. The parking in this area have started becoming a real issue since they made the car park nearby metered. Luckily we got one just across the road. We ordered two laskas (one chicken and one prawn) and two rice and egg and meat dish. There were no condiments on most of the tables which is just bizzare. Even more so when we later tasted how bland the food were, especially the laksas. We did managed to get some chilli oil though, which did nothing for the taste. We saw many people commenting that they come here for a cheap feed. I've personally never seen meals so expensive. I can get laksa regularly in North Sydney for under $10, here it's like $15. The prawn laksa was like $18 which is outrageous. Food can be found cheaper elsewhere in Hobart. Looking over the menu, I can see very little food that is especially worth it. I thought it was hilarious that they added some of the 5/5 rating reviews they've received from Google Reviews. Obviously don't know what they're talking about and probably never had a decent Asian fusion experience to compare. I don't blame them, it is Hobart afterall. Overall, a very poor dining experience. Food were expensive. Food provides little value for the high cost as it was pretty bland. I can safely say the previous owner was much better. Please improve your laksa and offer more sizable meals around the $10-12 mark. Provide your customers with enough condiments.
EXCELLENT traditional Vietnamese food at great prices. A real find.
Quick service. Cost place. Tasty food
Really good experience. Food came fast. Tasty. Baguette were really fresh. Very well price and a lot of options on the menu. Will come back definitely.
Affordable, tasty Vietnamese food. Very generous servings. The tamarind soft shell crab is amazing.
Delicious food and presentation. There was a 25m wait for our food, but worth the wait!!
Food was brilliant, definitely get takeaway again
Quick service, great food ( mine was crispy pork belly), very friendly.
Two out of three dishes tasted quite bad. And the staff did not do anything about it. Not a very pleasent experience.
