Usually very nice food, but stay away from Duck in plum sauce. It’s sweeter then a dessert

Saigon Express has been on a steady decline for the past 12-24 months. I used to eat here 2-3 times a week and now cannot even stomach the food. I have revisited twice in the past 6 months and have regretted both circumstances. There is a constant decline in quality to presumably cut costs, food has become less fresh, with poor quality vegetables, smaller portions and sloppier service. The management has taken on too many delivery services and the restaurant has become a shell of what it was, pumping out quantity in place of quality.

Had a hot sour hot plate the baby corn tasted off and so did the condensed milk in the vietnamese coffee. Told the head chef and he did not do anything about it. Asked the wait staff to write down the order as it was a big order, the wait staff said he will remember the order but forgot to bring king prawns... overall the offputting dishes and the rude behaviour of the head chef has made me decide not go revisit this place. Before this happened I was planning to visit regularly to try their big menu.

Saigon Express is easily the best and most authentic vietnamese in Hobart! Been there many times and always thoroughly enjoy my meal.

Good take away meal. I did get mixed up and thought the rice dish I ordered was something else but it was still tasty. Great banh mi. It's got a lot better than last time I was there 2 years ago. Quick service. Prices are good.
