Heard more Nightmare stories from a group of riders today who won't return apparently not happy with the standards of food last week. I thought my discussion with the owner last year may have done some good but apparently not.. even Karen I think her name was who used to work there has made mention she was discusted with the now quality of both service and food and this was the reason she quite. pity cause it was once one of the best bakeries in the South East.. Better Bakeries just up the road now.. Tyson try taking a more pro active roll back in the business from the prep..cooking..to the customer service.. its your business.. you had good staff your business needs three things.. 1 Location 2. Food Quality.. 3.. Service.. you now appear to only have location..
Nice atmosphere and nice staff. Great range of products.
I checked my timeline and I found that on average I get here every 6 months. I always try a different pie and have a taste of my wife’s pie every time I get here. Each pie I have seem to be better than the one before. Sometimes you have to wait in a long queue. But you have to expect that when you’re visiting one of the best pie shops.
1- The decoration was very cosy and I loved it. 2- Their pies were the best ever pies I ever had in Australia. However, there are different aspects of this cafe and bakery. 1- one staff behaved not good. Maybe she was tired. 2- I had to remind them to bring my cake. 3- coffee was normal, similar to other coffees.
Largest selection of pies I've ever seen.. Loved the old rustic ambience of the place
Was really looking forward to these pies, however completely lost my appetite after bad customer service with a girl (I believe her name was Kristen or something similar) behind the bakery. At first, she was free and looking to serve anyone, but it felt like she was actively trying to not serve me and only did after I kept smiling and waving at her as we had not been served yet. Then during my order, I changed my mind from the mock cream donut to fresh cream, to which she then rolled her eyes and loudly said “I asked you if you wanted fresh cream” and went to get it exasperatedly. Firstly, she did not actually ask if I wanted fresh cream, she only said after I was pointing at the screen “the mock cream donut?”. Second of all, it was a change of mind and it is bad business to have that attitude towards a small change from the customer who is purchasing multiple items. It was disappointing for me to lose my appetite over this as I am sure the pies would have tasted better and the donut was delicious from what my partner told me. I am not sure if she was just having a bad day or did not want to serve me because of my race, but sadly it ruined my experience at this bakery overall.
The sheer number of pies available is awe inspiring in itself. You can find almost any filling you could think off. Unfortunately, the venison pie was out of stock (went here specifically for that one) but settled on an emu pie. The filling was delicious - one of the tastiest I've had. My only issue with the food was the pie's casing. I found it to be quite dry and the pie had a high crust-to-filling ratio leaving the experience as a whole quite mediocre. This could absolutely be a personal preference issue! The staff were friendly in the short time I was there and the prices are what you would expect for an award winning shop. Switched from 3* to 4* after thinking back. I'd recommend this place if you're in the area but I wouldn't say it's worth travelling for specifically.
The good wife had seen this bakery voted as one of the best around however we were less than overwhelmed. It was good, but not great. They claimed having 120 flavours but when we enquired, it was about 7 attempts before we picked one that was available. The party was a bit thick and flaky however the thick pastry was handy while driving as it held together well in one hand. But overall, it was just a good pie.
Have been through Fernvale a few times for work coming from Brisbane. We stop every time we come through for a pie. Have tried the steak mince and emu pie and both were delicious. Would recommend for sure.
Fabulous pies. Steak bacon and cheese. No curry pied though they were sold out. Just means we have to go back!
