La Mensa

I was nervous as the reviews were hit and miss but I figured I would give it a go. The service was friendly if a little slow but the food and wine was magnificent. I had the best chicken schnitzel I have had in a long time - moist thick chicken well fried with the best creamy mushroom sauce. Salad and chips on the side with a glass of Chianti. Wel worth a visit

No photos sorry but dinner tonight at La Mensa down at Salamanca place In Hobart was pretty good ! Very popular restaurant as it was pretty full for most of our evening ! Food was really good , I had the Scallop Spaghetti and outside of it being a little small in size the food was cooked well and looked very appealing on the plate ! Staff were excellent n very pleased to help and get you what you needed ! Definitely go back but this time I’ll be having the entree prior to my main ! Thank you La Mensa n staff for a wonderful night out !

The service was great. Nice atmosphere. The food was good but definitely not authentic Italian. Nonetheless it was enjoyable. 👍☺️

Great family restaurant with plenty of options for the grown ups and kids. Food is fresh, very tasty and good value. Decor is a little dated (and the wall near our table probably needed a clean!) but can definitely recommend this restaurant.

The food and staff are just fantastic! I gave dined here MANY times (probably more than one should admit) and I have not had a bad meal yet. I can highly recommend this family friendly, delicious restaurant

I really enjoy this restaurant, it has become one of our favourites. The staff are always friendly and the food top notch. They have done a fantastic job to maintain a stable and tasty menu during covid. I can't recommend them highly enough. Great spot for families and couples alike. I would recommend the pizzas, but the family are partial to the risotto.

The food here is really nice and it also really spacious and I really enjoying coming here the cook there does a perfect job cooking the food and the staff/ waiters and waitresses that work there are really pleasant.

Place was packed on Saturday night when we went. We were glad we made a booking. The garlic bread was DELICIOUS and our pastas were delightful as well. Service was extremely attentive and quick.

After eating here I rushed to look at the reviews and I’m not quite sure where all the 5 star reviews came from?. Very disappointed as the place looked very promising considering the prices are quite high. It took an hour and twenty minutes until the main meal came, the chicken, seafood risotto and the steak we’re not great, they came quite cold with too little or too much spice in them. The starters are alright (better than the main meal) and the atmosphere is really nice, but the staff aren’t really responsive and it was really hard to get their attention. A couple of waiters (there were only 5 staff members including the kitchen and bar) towards the end acknowledged that I was very unhappy with the whole experience and appreciated my honesty. Honestly I find it hard to recommend this place.
