I only do ramen reviews. I had lunch today at Ikkoryu Fukuoka. It was pretty good. I had the mayu tonkotsu. The broth is a bit thinner than most for a tonkotsu. Being a chintan guy myself I didn’t mind the mouthfeel, just be prepared to up the heaviness (it’s a menu option) if that’s your thing. The toppings were pretty standard and executed reasonably well. I think there was too much sugar in the ajitama, maybe from mirrin which pushed it a little to far into the sweet zone. Chashu was tender. My biggest criticism was the tare which just went a little too far for saltiness and which might have relied on commercial umami boosters which have that distinctive msg flavour. The pictures also show the standard tonkotsu and the miso which my family had. 🍜🍜🍜 out of 5.
Very poor customer service. Waited for 20+ mins for a seat and no one even greeted or asked "how many people" or "sorry for the wait". When we're finally greeted, was told there will be another 25 minutes wait for the meal even if we order right now. Then proceeded to seat us next to the kitchen corridor, when there are other tables available. We requested to seat elsewhere, the lady's response was "No" Unless you wanted to be wasting your time and being bossed around, while giving them the your business, don't even bother.
I have a naturally small appetite but gosh I wish I could eat everything. (I felt so sad having to leave without finishing my food haha) The food was incredible. The atmosphere is very relaxing, great for groups or individuals. Highly recommend eating here!!
Best Ramen i've ever had in Melbourne!
Expensive for what is given. Though the staff were nice, the service was fairly poor. Took us about an hour to get serve and get food. The food that was given tasted good but still not worth the price paid.
Was great! We were a big group plus kids and they accommodated as best they could. Super friendly staff.
Good Broth and noodle gone wasted. Broth was great. Noodle itself was great, however the chef didn’t loosen up the noodle properly when cooking— a half loosen noodle ball end up coming with broth, noodle on the outside is more cooked than the inside.. You don’t have to be Japanese to serve ramen, but basic customer service needs to be there... From customer service to ramen, you won’t find any passion in Ikkoryu. I believe people don’t mind to wait for a good ramen with polite staff. But the staffs here were SO depressed, like they were forced to be here. The only convo we had with the staff was “please eat the ramen with the tray underneath because the soup will splash onto the table” Hmmm... I don’t know what you think, but may be they should start a burger joint instead..wait there will be bread crumbs..
One of if not THE best noodles I've ever had the pleasure of eating, and the service is by far and away the best and most original I've experienced anywhere. Top shelf
Friendly staff. Probably improve once the staff are better settled post COVID. Great owners who will make a go of this business.
Honestly, really good. They hand make practically everything, and you can customize a bowl to your liking including hardness of noodles. Nice Sake and Whiskey selection for this those that drink. And for vegetarians they've got a great range too with a soy only soup base.I had a Kilchi special which was particularly awesome.
