Relatively bland and flavourless Chinese restaurant, saved by a great wine list and Tsingtao beer.

Delicious Shao Long Bao dumplings, then we had the beans with pork mince - so crispy and delicious and another dumpling with chili oil dressing. I don’t even like pork, but could go another round! The pricing was excellent too, at least 8 handmade dumplings for $10.80! Better quality, better pricing than chain dumpling places. Thank you to my friend who took me here becuase she thinks it’s better than Din Tai Fung.

Melbourne has no shortage of dumpling places. The great thing about Hu Tong is they put a bit more effort into the interior and setting and the staff a lot nicer. You do pay for it in the price. Certainly one of the more expensive dumpling places in town. All the dumplings are fantastic really. Xiao Long Bao is great with soupy insides. The sechuan style chilli chicken is great too. But cant go wrong with any of the dumplings really. There are cheaper places but its a good first time place if u are getting initiated into dumpling culture

Fantastic food and really welcoming service. Always busy but fast rotating patrons and fast customer service means you'll get a seat within 15.

Xiao long bao's broth was flavourful, skin abit too thick compare to ding tai feng. Wantons in chilli oil was really good with sour and spicy sauce, not spicy at all though. Great place for Chinese dumplings.

Good dumplings but on the pricey side. Definately worth it tho. Service could be a bit better. Love the fact you can watch them making your dumplings.

Hutong is always consistent. Prompt service, reasonable prices, but very popular so booking is a good idea. Order a spread of delicious dumplings, and include an order of pan-fried dumplings. They take a bit longer to prepare and will hit the table just as you finish the rest and will be ready for more.
