A tourists delight or a great local venue to go with extended family? It's both. This venue has some real history behind it and it's displayed on the walls in the form of carvings and pictures. The atmosphere is cozy whether the venue is full or empty. The staff are welcoming and try to accommodate every request. The Drunken Admiral is in a tourist hot spot but they don't charge excessively for the amount of food they provide. Come with an appetite or pop in for a nibble and you won't be disappointed. Looking forward to suggesting to friends and family the fish chowder.

I used to absolutely love this place. It used to be that nothing was a hassle. However this time, I got a market tasting plate that came with 3 natural oysters, when I asked if they could be done as a cooked alternative I was told no because they come in lots of 6 in the kitchen and they can't split them. However they obviously split them because the plate only comes with 3. I would have been happy to pay a little extra and wait a little longer, as was the rest of the table (my family), for them to be cooked to order. I do understand this makes things a little out of order for the kitchen, but hey guys, guess what? You're in the service industry and meeting customers requests is part of that.

Loved the place. Heaving with people, crowded, service was great, food was exceptional. I had the salmon wrapped, lovely.

Cool layout and historical artefacts, the food was ok, glorified local pub.

Tourist trap! Over priced seafood of poor quality. Fish tasted bitter, batter was terrible & fries were regular out of the packet & cooked poorly. Salad was generic. If you're after even an average culinary experience go elsewhere. The Tasmanian sparkling water was lovely.
