Was looking forward to trying this restaurant out after hearing many great things from friends and colleagues. The service and friendliness from the wait staff was second to none. Within minutes we had a negroni that tasted exceptional and a very tasty house Prosecco. The attention to detail within the dishes is what sets this restaurant apart from other bars. Horseradish on the kingfish crudo was a standout! Highly recommended. It seemed pretty quiet at lunch time but definitely worth booking ahead to guarantee a table especially for dinner.

I was lucky enough to secure The Carlton Wine Room’s atmospheric cellar for my 50th Birthday dinner last week. 15 friends and I celebrated with a sensational and totally delicious sharing menu (my friends have not stopped talking about the food!) and beautiful wines. Service on the night was perfect - attentive but not over-bearing. It felt relaxed and intimate and yet there was a fantastic buzz and you could feel the energy of the establishment in full swing on a Saturday night. I simply could not rate this place highly enough for a memorable private function and can’t wait to go back again for dinner!

This has got to be one of the best spots in Melbourne. Great food does not have to be unnecessarily fancy or over complicated, Carlton Wine Room has consistently proven that with their thoughtful menu and perfect execution. This is my third visit and definitely not my last. So glad I got to celebrate my birthday here with amazing people and beautiful seasonal spread. We ordered the set menu as it had most of the items we were going to order anyway. Warm & friendly table service, kitchen pacing was fairly quick as they had to dish out everything for us to finish within the allocated booking time Loved the stracciatella with focaccia especially

Nice food. Service a little slow but very polite. The main waiter who looked after us was great. Friendly and had good suggestions.

Lunch was a delightful experience. Staff were most helpful both in seating us and menu selection. Our food choices were delicious and tasty. They were presented very well. The recommended wine, a Pyrenees Rose was superb, matched our dishes well. If you are looking for a bargain feast, this place is not for you. If you are a discerning diner who enjoys that little difference and not concerned with cost, then this place is still serving outstanding dining.

Food was very average. We didn’t particularly enjoy any of the dishes we ate. So glad we were offered a half serve of the cauliflower as it was extremely rich and unbalanced. Wasn’t a fan of the masterfoods bbq sauce on the croquettes either. Wine was overpriced. 2 stars for the pleasant service.

Great food and great service. A great spot for a function.

Went for dinner with VERY high expectations. Walked away very disappointed with below average service (waiter must have been on training) and below average quality of food & wine. Quality of food was pretty average for what we paid and found the atmosphere very unpleasant, not relaxing and stiff! This place needs to lift their game with so much better quality and competition now around in Melbourne.
