169 Margaret St, Toowoomba City

Went to the Cube before the INXS Concert. We ordered drinks at the bar, they said they would bring them to our table....15mins later we got our drinks! We had to wave down a waitress to take our dinner order,no one asked if we would like more drinks. Each time we had to order our drinks at the bar and then wait for them to bring them to our table,we would of bought more drinks but got tired of waiting. Our meals,we ordered chicken linguine and the chicken was off,we had one piece of chicken and it smelt and tasted off, called the waitress over and she got the manager. He made every excuse under the sun,we said no excuse will be good enough for rotten chicken!!! We turned down a replacement meal as we had a terrible taste in our mouth,we refused to pay for our meals,so he gave us a free drink, which we had to wait ages for. The waitresses were sour faced and didn't want to be there. We will never go back to the Cube!!!

Love this restaurant! The food is fresh, oh so tasty, and beautifully presented. We have a regular monthly breakfast club which meets here, and we've all sampled nearly every item on the menu. Not once in nearly a year now has anyone had a less than scrumptious meal.

554 Ruthven St, Toowoomba City

We couldn't decide where we wanted to go for dinner. It didn't take long for us to realise that this place was the right decision. The only negative part of our experience was the gas running out for the pure mix but that was out of their control. The meals are priced well for the size and the flavour is delicious. The flat head was tasty and the ribs were so tender and juicy and saucy. I can hear my tummy grumbling while I write this. The free taster chicken wings are delicious and now... Next time we come in I think we all be ordering a serve. Thank you for a great meal and a great experience.

George Banks Bar and Bistro
4.1
/ 146

206 Margaret St, Toowoomba City

George banks is a spoon full of sugar for Toowoomba. Named after the Mary Poppins character the bar has an elegant feel to it, capped off with a great umbrella chandelier. After the downfall of the Office and the Chelsea, there are not too many places for an upmarket dinner and drinks. That said the best way I can describe George Banks is a great plan, poorly executed. The menu is modern and tasty, I had the carrots, dumplings, wagu fat potatoes a delicious wagu tri tip and the coal fired greens. The down fall was the staff could not explain the menu well as there are some exotic items there. I was a little annoyed at the lack of service to start with, as were a number of other patrons, as we waited 10 mins for a menu after sitting down, and then they neglected to give us the drinks menu which is odd for a place all about food/wine pairing. The restaurant turns into a bar after a certain time so there was a creeping line of tables being removed which made customers feel rushed. After spending upward of 200 dollars I felt somewhat annoyed that our waiter asked us “are you finished or would you like the bill” in an attempt to clear us off the table so the bar area could take precedence. The good parts of George Banks is clearly the out door booths and bar tables, they will be magical on a Friday at sunset. Overall, this could be put down to teething problems and I’m willing to go back after the initial hype wares off.

Excellent Indian food. Was happily surprised to find this place as we have just moved to Toowoomba. Never could find a good place in Sydney. What a excellent little find.
