The Hero of Waterloo Hotel
4.5
/ 464

81 Lower Fort St 2000, Sydney

Great music on Saturday nights. The building is very cool (all stone and said to have been built by convict labor). The place seems to have a lot of history and a great friendly atmosphere. Beware it may close pretty early (Saturday at 11:30pm the night I went). (They have ghost tours of the tunnels under the bar, but this review is for the bar itself)

Gelato Messina Circular Quay
4.5
/ 462

1 Macquarie Pl Shop G-10, Gateway Plaza, Circular Quay 2000, Sydney

Excellent, now you can enjoy Messina in Circular Quay area.

Lindt Chocolate Café, Cockle Bay
3.9
/ 708

104-105 Cockle Bay Wharf, Sydney

Been here a couple of times for afternoon tea or dessert and whilst chocolate isn't my favourite thing to eat, Lindt makes some pretty good chocolate. It's smooth and velvety - my fav is the choc cheesecake

NOLA Smokehouse and Bar
4.2
/ 564

Level 1, One International Towers Sydney Cnr Barangaroo Ave & Shipwright Walk Barangaroo South 2000, Sydney

Nothing in Sydney like this place! Amazing cocktails. Meats, eats and treats.

Chaco Ramen
4.4
/ 490

238 Crown St Darlinghurst 2010, Sydney

*Kuta... Kuta* Asked if I wanted to go to a new yakitori restaurant in Sydney, the answer was of course "YES"! Chaco Bar, only open for 2 months, is an awesome little venue near Pocket Bar in Darlinghurst. Given the breadth of the menu, you could call it a mix of a yakitori bar, an izakaya and (eventually) a sake bar. But as it is currently BYO, I brought my own bottle of sake. Having super friendly staff certainly helps in a venue like this, and following the various recommendations for chefs skewers and a few other bits and pieces, we set to devouring everything and anything put in front of us. Highlights were the kokoro (hearts), nankotsu (cartilage), and the pork belly. All were succulent and juicy, cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The tsukune (not balls, but a long finger of chicken mince) were also tasty, dipping in a slow cooked egg, but some things perhaps need some ironing out. The kawa (skin) was tasty, but unfortunately a little chewy rather than crispy, but that was probably just unlucky, and the tattaki was more of a modern take on the traditional tuna dish which didn't really work for me. At about $45/pp (not including the bottle of sake I brought), it was not a cheap night out, but it was the best yakitori I've had in Sydney for a long long time. Certainly a place to keep an eye on but be warned, booking are essential!

The Rook Rooftop
4.1
/ 605

56-58 York St Level R 2000, Sydney

Nicely hidden off York St, The Rook feels slightly more exclusive than your usual CBD bar. A quick elevator ride to the roof and we found the bar packed on a Thursday night with the post-work crowd. Friendly bar staff helped us to pass 30 mins waiting for a table, where we chose wagyu burgers and ordered more beers. After a short wait we were brought a bowl of onion rings on the house, plus an apology for the delay which was a nice touch. The food followed shortly after and was delicious. Only downside is that it's incredibly noisy, so perhaps not the best place for a quiet date or catch up.

Goros
4.1
/ 596

84/86 Mary Street Surry Hills 2010, Sydney

It's awesome, anyone who doesn't like it must be looking for one of those faux-izakaya places in Sydney that are actually nothing like a real izakaya. Small bar vibe in a big room. Who doesn't love Iron Chef repeats on the tv screens?

The Rocks Cafe
4.4
/ 481

99 George St 2000, Sydney

Nice coffee, fresh croissants, quirky old school staircase to upstairs cafe

Marble Bar
4.3
/ 513

Level B1/488 George St, Sydney

I was staying at the Hilton, and happened upon this excellent bar. The cocktails were excellent, certainly the best cocktails I tasted during my stay in Sydney. Cocktails cost around 18-26 dollars per drink depending on what you're drinking, but worth every dollar. The décor in the Marble Bar is very cool and has to bee seen to believed, it gives the venue a great atmosphere, the bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks they were making. If you're staying in the Hilton Hotel I'd strongly recommend that you pop down and visit this venue to try a cocktail and soak up the atmosphere.

Yok Yor Thai Food Factory
4.4
/ 476

Shop g06, 323castlereagh street Shop G06 2000, Sydney

nice food but very limited dessert menu compare to other thai eateries

The Pie Tin
4.2
/ 547

1a Brown St off Princes Highway 2042, Sydney

Great pies, great friendly service... hard to get seating sometimes

Ramen Zundo
4.2
/ 542

Shop 10.30 World Square, 644 George st 2000, Sydney

Many different soup bases to choose from, each one delicious in its own way. Not the cheaper ramen place around, but comparatively competitive pricing. Personally recommends the double soup base which is actually milder so you can drink the entire bowl of flavorsome soup without leaving a strong aftertaste.

Badde Manors
4.1
/ 581

37 Glebe Point Rd 2037, Sydney

Great food, a little plain but all veggie and quite good for the price!
