Friendly bar staff and nothing is too much trouble. Great, cosy interior. What a pub should be.

Nice enough food good drinks good service

First trip from Sydney to Armidale. Stopped in on Saturday for lunch and was so happy with both the Chicken Burger and the 'Newie' burger we decided to have dinner there on Saturday night. Saturday night was a standout. Started with the garlic prawns, salt and pepper squid and garlic bread, all amazing but the winner was the garlic prawns - absolutely delicious. For the mains we had the Filet Mignon and Barramundi. One thing I want to say is if you do nothing else in the New England region of NSW, you must try this Filet Mignon. Absolutely smashed me out of the park, I have ordered this dish across Australia and this is by far, over and above the best one I have had. All staff were friendly, happy to have a chat and were great at offering tips for the local area. One thing I also noticed is that they were smiling and actually looked like they wanted to be there which added to the overall vibe of the whole place. Coming from Sydney it's hard to find a place that doesn't shell out mass produced, mediocre-at-best, chain style pub food that gives you heartburn. Coming from a bloke that knows the inside of a pub pretty well, The New England Hotel is a breath of fresh air, so much so I felt compelled to leave this review. Want a pub feed that's reasonably priced, made with the customer in mind and served with a smile? Look no further than the Newie. We will definitely be back.

Some meals were very generous, however my barramundi fillet was tiny, luckily my 10 year old couldn't finish his chicken schnitzel. Very tasty meals

Nice cool beer. Clean and tidy. Great food and top service.

Good effort on the panko crumbed schnitzel and chips with a small salad ($15). Points off because it seemed like the cooking oil could have been hotter as the chips were a bit pale and the schnitzel a bit greasy. Also, partner asked for coleslaw but got salad.

Staff were very friendly but service was very slow, seemed mainly due to covid restrictions everything was table service. You couldn't go to the bar to order drinks So had to wait till staff came by or noticed you wanting to order . Meals were generous size and taste great. Had a good pub vibe.

First impressions are the ones that make or break a place and Really as for hotel smoking areas that have pokies thus would have to be dead set the worst I have ever seen in my life it was raining both inside and out when I stopped in for a refreshment from the limited tasteless smattering of cheap grog on offer,from the state of the rest of the hotel I'd dare not taste the fair from the kitchen through I must state the restaurant/ meal part of the establishment is away from the area on which I base my review, they may have a fuller selection of beers and spirits out the back, in it's favour is the location, it has pool table and a wall mounted tab machine I'm also led to believe you can play keno as well, all in the front bar
