We selected this restaurant based on location, menu and price, as we were celebrating a special occasion we did want a top tier meal. Easy to locate and parking available. On arrival we were asked to go to the bar first and they were running behind schedule and it seemed there were a number of customers in the same boat, but got to enjoy the sunset whilst waiting - would recommend the rose cocktail. When seated it did take the waitress a bit of time to get to us for initial orders. We ordered the salmon entree to share, and the eye fillet and pork belly for mains. The salmon was lovely, the eye filler was cooked well however the pork belly was a bit of a let down. The meat was a bit dry so had to drench in sauce (sauce was great) and the skin was very tough and inedible. I kindly gave feedback to the kitchen regarding the pork belly skin. Dessert was lovely - had the salted caramel ice cream, the biscuit on there was lovely too, just make sure you like salty if you order this. The best part of dinner was the complimentary fresh bread with local olive oil, local butter and local sea salt. Overall it was a nice experience, staff were very friendly, polite and helpful, it was unfortunate no fly screens or any sort on the doors as a number of flies and mozzies got in so we did leave with a few bites and had a visitor in my drink. Likely wouldn’t return for dinner in the restaurant, maybe the bistro and a drink.

Ordered nearly the whole menu, but unfortunately felt like majority of the dishes had too much going on. Lots of sauces, toppings and extra ingredients (particularly for the desserts). Favourite dishes: - Bicheno tiger abalone risotto - cheesy with perfect hints of mushroom - Freycinet seafood sharing plate - Dutch carrots - Crispy chat potatoes - great side to balance out the heavier dishes - Seared Tasmanian scallops - interesting combo of sweet corn, avo, proscuitto & popcorn - Wagyu steak - delicious but wasn't worth $85 - Freycinet honey creme Could go without: - Wild Clover lamb fillet - only had 3 tiny pieces of lamb - Pan fried kingfish - fish was a bit dry - Freycinet seafood bouillabaisse - Scottsdale confit pork belly - pork belly itself was decent but wasn't a fan of the sauce, slaw was overpoweringly sour - Raddichio salad - Citron cheese cake - very small serving size - Tongola goats’ panacotta - wanted a simple panacotta but ended up having all these different additions Food took a while to come out however our server was amazing! Very accommodating for a special request for a friend's birthday. Presentation of the food and interior of the restaurant was stunning too :)

We had a lovely meal! The oysters to start were delicious and the duck main was absolutely fantastic and a must-try. My personal highlight was the old fashioned, which was truly delicious!

Absolutely lovely meals, could not fault a thing, the oysters were so fresh, the steak and fish just as impressive. The staff are so polite, and a credit to the tourism industry. The access to the restaurant did involve some stairs, but the actual restaurant area is flat. Prices for mains roughly $45 each. Coffee was full bodied and creamy. We did not have dessert, so cannot comment. The view at the Bay Restaurant is surreal, just stunning from all angles, the water is clear as glass. Would be wheelchair friendly, in some areas. I am glad we visited this beautiful, pristine part of Tasmania.

It's no surprise this is a multiple award winning restaurant. While the decor is a little dated, the view is stunning and the food absolutely on point, while the friendly staff are the icing on the cake. If you find yourself in Freycinet, it's a dining experience not to be missed.

The view from this restaurant is spectacular and the food here was absolutely delicious. I had the steak and it simply melted in my mouth. The abalone pappardelle was also delicious and the service was great. Thank you Corey. Very welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Great to see you the next morning as well. Thanks for the tips of where to go too! We went to Cape Tourville Lighthouse on your recommendation and it was spectacular.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Bay Restaurant. Great food (Mains were Sous Vide Duck Breast and Wild Clover Lamb Back Strap, Dessert Freycinet Honey Creme). Shoutout to Darcy from Broome for outstanding service - made our night.

Absolutely brilliant food. 4 of us had entree, main and dessert and every one of the dishes were superb. Simply outstanding food. Great wine selection as well. Service was seriously fabulous - they clearly have built a great culture here as everyone was friendly, professional and genuinely engaging. We also had breakfast here and every dish was amazing. Special call out for the pesto eggs which were incredible. Even if you’re not staying there, I’d recommend dining.

We dined here for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Everything about it was remarkable. Starting with the location. Beautiful view across the bay and we had an amazing sunset. The server we had was perfect! Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. She made the evening that much more special. She told the kitchen it was our anniversary, so we got “congrats” written in chocolate on our dessert. A little thing that made the night more special. The food was absolutely delicious and the servings were spot on. The drink selection was great and I had the best Old Fashioned cocktail I have ever had. Highly recommend.
