South Melbourne Market

Great variety of stalls offering local products, fresh seafood, pasta, meats, restaurants and homewares. A great indoor market to visit any days of the week!

This place is amazing, if you go on a weekday earlier in the morning it's great. Unfortunately on a weekend it's barely possible to walk through without the hundreds of people playing touchy with their shoulders on yours. No matter how many signs and security there are only half the people in there wear masks during Covid, especially when the lockdown was on. Most shops have great staff, always happy and service with a smile. Individual shop reviews to come.

So much choice and such high quality. If not the best markets in Australia, I’d love to know what is. The food was fresh, the smell was fantastic, the service first class. Am absolute must for anyone coming to Melbourne. As a bonus there is a pamphlet with information for a short tour of the surrounding block that was well worth the time.

A variety of food top quality food. Love the seafood in there, fresh and delicious seafood with reasonable prices.

Awesome place. Much more variety than the Vic market. Plenty of great cafes and little shops. I was increased by the craft beer outlet they had as well and getting some delicious donuts. Check it out if you're passing by that part of Melbourne.

The South Melbourne Market is a 'must see' when you are next in Melbourne. It is an expansive space filled with market stalls and permanent stores covering fashion to gourmet foods. It is the birthplace of the dim-sim, of which you will need to queue in order to satisfy your desire. Allow at least an hour to properly do the market over inside and out. I'm a foodie so highly recommend checking out the butchery, dumpling and small good purveyors. They are all off the charts good.

Loved this market. It has wonderful produce, and I got waylaid at one of the several glorious oyster bars where they have a mind boggling array of oysters from all the best places including several varieties grim Tasmania. There was all sorts of other fresh and tasty seafood as well. We had a breakfast of oysters and then lunch was half a crunchy pork knuckle, so delicious. Flowers, plants galore, clothes, exotic goods from far and wide, all top quality. I got my eyes photographed. These can be framed or set in resin with special effects like gold flecks. Something very different. The ambience of these markets is great. I'm going back again this weekend too before I leave to go back home to Queensland. Best markets I've been to in a long while. Definitely a foodies paradise. See you there.

Visited and shopped in April 2021. Bustling, absolutely loaded with exceptional stock. Helpful, non-intimidating stall holders. Can't wait to return. Stay strong!

A great place to shop, lots of different specialty stores, great atmosphere and food is great for a quick bite to a evening meal!! Market has most things and is always a hive of activity on opening days. Check it out sometime, there is something there for everyone. Great family day out for all..

Very cute and market (went here on a Sunday). You can definitely spend a few hours here and discover cute little shops.
