Traditional handmade Shanghai xiaolongbao and dumplings. Top 50 cheap eats in Melbourne from Goodfood Guide 2016.
342 Little Bourke St 3000, Melbourne
Quick Service, Great Food. The downside is the seating space. Initially seated right next to another couple. Felt like we were eating with complete strangers. In the middle of the restaurant. Staff were very accommodating and we were able to move.
This is definitely one of the best dumpling places in Melbourne!!! Despite having odd opening hours (Sun-Thu 11:45-14:45 & 16:45-20:30, Fri-Sat 11:45-14:45& 16:45-21:00), it is always busy, and people tend to queue up. The best time to visit is in the evening, as you will get a table in this little gem. We ordered the Signature Shanghai Pan Fried Mini Bun Port (6pcs) + Chicken & Prawn Shu Mai (6pcs) + Pork & Prawns Wonton Noodle Soup (8pcs), and my oh my!!! Every bite was out of this world! The Buns & the dumpling were hot when served, so had to wait a bit to take our first bite. And the Wonton Noodle Soup was just perfect. Itβs good to share, but I literally stuffed my face in it, and enjoyed it to the last bite. We will keep coming back for more! Very friendly staff, and super accommodating.
Tastes great and well worth visiting. Can't share any photos of the food, it didn't last long to take a photo. Even tried the vegetarian dumplings.... even more surprising I'd actually recommend them too.
They have the tastiest dumplings in Melbourne! I love the chicken and prawn dumpling in chilli oil and peanut butter sauce.
Done up well.
Dumpling taste was great, full of flavor, but pastry little bit thick. If bit more thinner, would been perfect. Service was rush, we have given 45mins to finish our meal, it took about 12mins for our food got into our table. Exactly 45mins, waitress brought the bill to our table.
Such good dumplings! The best Iβve had! So delicious!
Quick nice service and nice food! I like it like it! Absolutely I will come next time with my friends.π€©
Grate Chinese not much msg real flavour. dumplings made fresh at the window I recommend the sweet and sour soup with pork dumplings. Do not have the beef dumplings they are just, there just not good and the chicken and prawn can be a touch crunchey with the prawn meet. Service average but the food is oustanding. Sometimes there is a line out the door and the wait could be up to 10- even 20 minutes but it is so worth it!
I think this is the best dumplings shop in Melbourne. You can't miss their traditional soups dumplings and pan-fried bun. (Can't remember the name) And the noddle with mince just super tasty. (spicy one taste better than none spicy) Those three is the best dishes I would recommend. Ps. They are very busy, you might need to wait for a long time during peak hours. The best way is order by phone to take away
