Always happy with the food at Shanghai Street. Best quality dumplings in Chinatown. Wontons in chilli oil and peanut sauce are some of my favorites!

Delicious Pork Xiao long bao but it will be better if there is more soup inside the bao. Also having their spicy wonton soup but not very impressed. It's recommended to try all types of xiao long as here.

Xiao Long Bao and panfried veggie dumplings were very tasty, fair price and the staff are very friendly, considerate and vegan accommodating. Only downside is their strict BYO policy and fee but that won't discourage me from going again.

The best xio long bao place in Melbourne. Great spread of Chinese delicacies and main dishes as well. Fried rice and Kung pao chicken is also amazing. A must try place for sure.

Efficient but impersonable service as is typical in these types of restaurants. That's ok, because we came for the food. Ordered several dumpling dishes, fried rice, and shanghai fried noodles. Don't order the vegetable dumplings. It is literally just green veg inside and they have a bitter chemical taste and smell to them. They are also under seasoned compared to the other meat based dumplings. I suspect they soaked their vegetables in bicarb solution to keep their green colour. All other dishes were delicious. I would still recommend this restaurant for the other dishes.

Shanghai Street Chinatown in Little Bourke Street is a very busy place. We walked straight in around 7 pm. They have a QR code to check in for contact tracing before you are seated. I went on a Monday night, so its not as busy as a Thurs, Fri or Sat, when people have to wait to get in and eat. We ordered Pork Steamed Xiao Long Bao, Chicken & Sweet corn soup, Pork + Vege Spring Rolls, Pineapple Sweet n Sour Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice and last but not least, Fried Sticky Rice Ball with Red Bean Filling. Drinks; Water and a Pepsi Max. Water and hot tea are free, you can help yourself to those at a self serve area, back of restaurant. The service was lightning fast, within 5 to 10 minutes we had all our food. The food is good. My soup had a very strong smell of sesame oil as it was served, but I didnt really notice an excess of that when I ate it. It ended up being a bit of food for 3 of us. I took the Red Bean balls (so good) and Pork Xiao Long Bao to go (added chilli oil + soy sauce to them before I packed it away) The bao are amazing with the chilli oil and soy sauce. I wouldve liked a little more soup inside them, the casing may have absorbed that by the time I ate it 2 hours later I guess, these things arent really made for 'later' I spose. Its .50c a takeaway container. The cost was $74.50c for everything. There is a 1% surcharge for credit card and a minimum food order of $10. I paid cash 🙂 Ps: I ate all the Xiao Long Bao by myself, no worries. Theyre yummy cold too. I did ask if anyone wanted any "Does anyone want some of these?" (while eating them as quickly as possible) Thats the polite thing to do, but I didnt really mean it 😂

Just happened to be walking by on a Sunday when they just opened for lunch. This was perfect timing as a long queue forned just after we got in - they don't take bookings. What a pleasant surprise it was! We ordered 3 dishes and all 3 were wonderful. Wontons were tasty with the peanut sauce, Xiaolongbao with a good amount of juice in the dumpling and the noodles taste freshly made combined with a pork mince that adds all that salty yet spice flavour to the noodles. In my opinion, the tastiest Xiaolongbao's I have had in a while. Service speed is EXTRAORDINARY. Within 5 minutes of ordering all 3 dishes were on the table steaming hot. Looking around the restaurant it was the same for everyone else. They have a window straight into the prep station where they are making dumplings as they are being ordered which explains why every dumpling tasted so fresh and firm. Reasonably priced, tasty food and speedy service, how can you not have a good lunch here? The only warning I have to give is prepare for a potential lengthy wait to find a table.
