Pilu at Freshwater

I have eaten here about four times, this has been the best time yet. Service was timely and food was delicious. Sommelier made a fantastic recommendation for the meal we were having. Very enjoyable. Highly recommend.

A superb lunch.. as usual!

We recently held our wedding at Pilu Freshwater and it was the perfect choice. Besides the breathtaking views of the beach the team at Pilu was very well organised, professional and friendly. The food and the service were exceptional. They made the whole day a smooth and stress free experience.

Simply stunning. Food presentation, friendly and informative staff, and a stunning view thrown in for good measure.

We booked last minute for lunch and had a dietary requirement request and Pilu kindly accommodate with no hesitation! I can see what all the hype is about, food is amazing, view is perfect, venue is beautiful and all the staff are very friendly. There is paid parking near by but it is limited, there is some street parking.

We arrived at Pilu 30 minutes earlier than the restaurant’s opening hour on Friday (29 Jan 2020). We requested by phone if we could enter the restaurant waiting for it to be opened when the rain was pouring down heavily. They were so kind to let us sit in the foyer. What impressed us most was that they served us a glass of water with music playing. What a caring restaurant! They made us feel so welcome. The food was yummy and the service was great. The view was magnificent despite the wet weather. We had a wonderful time at Pilu.

We had the pictured 5 courses plus Sardinian bread. Excellent service and atmosphere. The tuna carlofortina (sashimi) was our favourite dish

One of the best restaurants i have been to. Customer service was fantastic. The menu was out of this world. The explanation of each course was very informative and nicely done. Cocktails are delicious. All the seafood is carefully selected and sourced. I absolutely loved it. Flavors of each dish has a remarkable taste to the palatte.

Very disappointing. Poor service, lousy atmosphere, forgettable food and it was pricey for what we got. Took my wife for dinner on her birthday and it was a big let down. On arrival, there was no-one to greet us. We stood around for 5 minutes before one of the wait staff came over. Then we were sat down and it was another 10 minutes before we were brought menus. It wasn't particularly busy. Despite being a quiet Wednesday dinner, we were all huddled up with the other guests. It was loud, we could hardly hear each other talking. It was at night, so we missed out on the beautiful views overlooking Freshwater beach during the day or at sunset, which ofcourse is not ideal but that also makes the decision to huddle everyone near the window more puzzling. All of this aside, if the food lived up to its reputation we could at least say something positive there but another let down. We had the 4 course dinner and other than the suckling pig main which was superb, everything else seemed to lack the sophistication or satisfaction you would expect from a hatted restaurant. Really wanted to like the place, but just not worth its reputation or the price we paid in my opinion. Having been to a dozen restaurants in Sydney that are hatted or in Qantas top dinning lists over the years, this is the only time I fealt the experience was not a good one.
