Highly recommend seeing the drag show over a bite to eat. Not a bad seat in the house. Drinks and dinner were good too. Lively atmosphere and quick bar service despite the crowd.

Spacious pub with a nice beer garden at the rear and balcony upstairs if you prefer to watch the world go by on King Street. Two pool tables in ground floor bar. Pub grub all afternoon - but pizzas not available until after 1700. Friendly bar staff. Surcharge for use of credit card.

I had a real good time here with my buds on a Monday arvo. The balcony was a real nice place to people watch and make idle chit chat. I don't remember what it was called, but we also partook in a refreshing sparkling wine based beverage which was perfect for the sunny afternoon in Newtown. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely go again, thank you Newtown Hotel.

Attended a show on Saturday evening. Lovely event. Lovely staff. After our meal was very late, my partner was offered a glass of wine, then a second wine because we still had no food, the second wine was spilled into her lap resulting in a third wine! Bar staff were brilliant. Then egghead bouncer asked us to leave because we were covered in said wine and not even able to finish our meal. I am a local in Newtown living 200 metres from the Newtown hotel. Disappointed. Usually accommodating and friendly atmosphere, but felt differently after being tainted by last nights events. Staff 5 star, security well below par.

Security refused entry last night saying we've had too much to drink. We had 1 drink... actually quite unprofessional and not exactly intelligent in discerning much. Most your bad reviews are about your security team, maybe you need to review that and get a company that actually knows what they're doing.

Nice spacious pub - not too busy, but good atmosphere on a Thursday. Decent selection of beers on tap both craft and mass produced. Prices are about average for drinks. Solid food options.
