135 Harrington St, The Rocks
Went there for my birthday dinner, and even on a Wednesday it was really busy! Or it could be the Wednesday specials $20 mussels, normally $38 per kilo. Simply enjoyed the mussels, wasn't interested in other dishes. Maybe I'll give them a try next time. Maybe... Service was great, food was good. Definitely come back.
This plate cost $28 came 1 hour after we ordered. We also had to ask 3 different waitress for our drinks and came 30mins after the food. The restaurant was at half capacity and had empty tables. Stale chips and dry chicken I would give minus one stars if I could. At the end of the night we had to hassle 2 wait staff just to get the bill and pay. We should have just walked out.
Had Belgian Bier Cafe in mind on the way to this heritage venue, but was surpised about the change of hand for the business. Aesthetically Malt Shovel did a great job giving the venue a fresh modern touch whilst maintaining the heritage characteristics of the original building. There is also a fresh new range of beers on selection which I thoroughly enjoyed. The menu was also excellent including my dry rubbed beef brisket complimented by some deliciously crispy crinkle cut chips. We caught them.on their first opening day so the waitresses are mostly still in training which as a consequence affected the service. However the wait staff were all friendly and I am confident the service quality will catch up with time.
How disappointing. Apparently this used to be a Belgium bar but now it's just a place serving the same standard lagers as most other places in Sydney.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT : This place is actually CLOSED, despite their website claiming they're open 7 day a week. My hubby was looking forward to a pot of mussels for his birthday, so we made the trip here especially. Only to discover they were closed "until the city reopens". It was a sunny Saturday, with lots of people in the Rocks for the markets. The city was plenty open. Very disappointing. Top tip: if your business is not operating it would be nice to say so on your website and on Google Maps.
The food looks beautiful and mussels are extremely tasty! Beer is good too. Staff are friendly. However a bit pricy. Anyway worth to try
Good food, beer and place with reasonable price, make your reservations before you go
Staff confused, can't even help with the items on the menu.
Delicious mussels are a MUST try, great selection of beers try all the Belgium beers!
Best burger with a layer of mac&cheese.. great atmosphere and service.. the lighting of the place could be dimmed towards later part of the evening..
