The earthy and moody vibes belies the honest to goodness meal served here. Definitely a spot that slips under the radar. The concise menu is made up of predominantly omu rice, and also ramen and selected sides. Absolutely love the fluffy omelette, and also the perfectly cooked mixed seafood on top. The ramen is just as good - a dark and richly savory broth that will have you finishing every last drop. Can't forget the dessert, the Monou Parfait was simple in flavours but deeply satisfying overall.

πŸ₯š omurice heaven 🍳 unatama rice 🐟 hokkaido omurice 🍜 miso butter ramen 🏠: @monoumelbourne πŸ“: South Melbourne β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” πŸ“: Japanese dinner spot in South Melbourne, perfect for those who love Omurice because that’s their speciality here! From meat to seafood, they’ve got all the omurice you want. ❀️: Super keen to try the Unatama Rice here. The unagi sauce was delicious and went amazingly well with the creaminess of the soft and fluffy omelette. The Hokkaido Omurice came with salmon and scallops as well as cheese sauce that will not disappoint. Don’t forget to finish for meal with their Monou Parfait. How pretty and cute is that?!

Lovely Japanese food. It's a small joint so book ahead and be patient... It's worth the wait!

Beautiful, authentic, low key. Just like being back in a local Osaka family owned izakaya.

The food was exceptional. The service was top notch. I can't recommend the Ramen enough! Gf had the spicy and I had the butter. Both were so so good. Thick and creamy broth and the pork belly was melt in your mouth. Hands down, the best ramen I've ever had!!! Sashimi was fresh, gyoza was flavourful and crispy and the selection of japanese alcohol was very good. Interior had easy going vibes and quirky touches. This is an excellent spot for modern japanese! Did I say the Ramen was THE BEST? It is. LEGIT.

The food was average and somewhat disappointing. I gave extra star for the friendly and warm staff and good atmosphere. If you're not specifically finding good Japanese food, this restaurant is fine. I feel disappointed with the omurice and eel. The rice used was on the side of low average. I would expect this Japanese dish to use Japanese rice (fluffier). And for Omurice, I must tell this is not any close to it, omlette is fine, it comes with only white bland rice and covered with sauce, probably to make up for the seasoning. I heard good reviews of this restaurant and was excited to try their sashimi don, it's not available during COVID time. Given how the rice was served this time, I doubt if it's worth going back.

New Japanese restaurant in South Melbourne. High ceilings and cream accent complemented the great interior. I can't put my hands on the concept of the restaurant. Is it izakaya, is it a sharing dishes or is it a high end restaurant? The food itself is pretty decent. School prawns and ochazuke are the highlights for me whereas the rest is cooked nicely but lacking the final touches that makes it special. Food - 8 Service - 10 Vibe - 10 Price - $$$$

3.5 stars ⭐️ this restaurant is opened by the guys from Kuu South Melbourne, as their more upmarket offshot. I really liked the ambience of this place, Kuu is a bit cramped whereas this place is larger, airy and more comfortable. I ordered their yuzu houjicha on ice, and it had a subtle yuzu flavour using yuzu peel. The salmon and kingfish chirashi set was delicious, although their fish could be fresher. The potato salad was ok, it tasted slightly fishy So it might not be to everyone’s liking. The snapper capaccio was a bit of a downer to be honest. The snapper was dressed in passion fruit and comes with slices of tomato and the flavours just don’t match. The passionfruit was too acidic and prominent and it took away the subtle flavours of the snapper, which was a bit disappointing. Hence the 3.5 stars ⭐️

Super cute, cozy place, the staff are just the most lovely people ever, and the food was amazing. I had the miso butter ramen and I’m still thinking about it the next day. There’s a few vegan options too which was very nice.
