La Quinta Mexican Cafe & Bar

Had a great experience here. First time I'd ever had a burrito bowl where the bowl was also edible. It was extremely tasty and the lamb tacquitos were excellent as well. The staff were well presented and attentive. I really like the service system they have in place where you put the Mexican flag on top of the cactus to get the wait staffs attention.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. They were also happy for us to bring our dog!

Please bring back the old menu! I had been a La Quinta fan for 10+ years - the giant frozen margaritas, the awesome ‘salad’ that came in a huge taco bowl, the affordable pricing and casual/fun/family friendly feel. But the upgrade to the menu is so disappointing. The costs are also much higher, but for less food and less tasty food. I understand the desire to bring in some more traditional Mexican foods, but without a full refurb to make it like Baja or more fine dining Mexican restaurants, it will always miss the mark. The family friendly, well priced, American-style Mexican is the target market in Bulimba. This is such a shame and doesn’t bode well for the longevity of this former Bulimba favourite. I’d genuinely be happy to help restore it (with a little bit of a marketing refresh) to its former glory.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE !!! Had dinner at La Quinta last night and upon paying the bill, we thought the price seemed too high for the 2 meals and 1 entree we ordered. When we asked for the receipt the cashier acted really sus but finally printed it out. We then discovered they had added an extra meal to our bill. We pointed this out and politely asked for a refund, and but before doing so the cashier turned to the kitchen staff and spoke briefly to them, before reluctantly agreeing to refund our money. During the refund process, the 4 kitchen staff and the other cashier girl ALL stopped their work and stared at us like we were criminals! It wasn’t until I said something about the fact they were all staring at us like we’d done something wrong, that the other staff stopped staring returned to their work. It was disgraceful behaviour! After leaving I checked my bank account to ensure the refund had gone through, only to find I was also charged extra for paying by eftpos instead of cash!! And to make it worse, no refund of these fees was applied to the refund of the unordered meal 🤯 So effectively.. the food quality has decreased, the prices have increased, they charge you for items you don’t even order and then charge extra fees you didn’t agree to when you pay via eftpos 🤬🤬 With service like this I am astounded they are even still in business! Safe to say I won’t go back!

Espresso martini - Very good Pino colada - Average.

I’ve been yelling if it ain’t broke don’t fix it from the roof tops since my girlfriends and I dinned in with you guys for the final time on Friday night. Extremely disappointing that the classic nachos we have been raving about for the multiple years we have been visiting your restaurant has now been replaced with a version that if you want meat and sour cream to be included, it’s an additional $11 on top of the new price bringing the dish that use to cost $17 inclusive to $35... Your original nachos were 10/10 for taste but this new style barely scrapes a 5/10. Sure businesses have price increases but this is absurd and we will not be back - time to find a new go to Mexican fav

We were not seated, as everyone else was. We were not given water, as everyone else was. Our table of 3 sat at least ten minutes before the table of 5 next to us. We order week before then also. We were not given our food before them. All we ordered were salad bowls/taco bowl. The sangria was nice though!

This used to be one of our favorite places to go in Bulimba but I am shocked to see they have changed the menu to a very bland sub standard mexican. Absolutely no flavour at all...we won't be back

Haven't you guys heard of.. What aren't broke dont fix ??? Why change the menu !!!?!?!? to take a different direction for the restaurant when 99 percent of the people that go to la quinta loved that menu!! only thing with the old menu maybe aim for fresher produce but otherwise unfortunately u guys have lost yourself a long and loyal customer Won't be back !!

I won't be visiting any longer. This used to be one of my favourite locals with fantastic well-priced Mexican food in large portions. But unfortunately we discovered yesterday they have changed to a completely different menu - none of the old favourites are available anymore. Instead there's a very small selection of downright strange menu items that are a far cry from the good quality mexican fare they used to serve. Among the new options are beef tongue tacos (almost $20 for 2 small tacos) and deer burrito (I think it was?). Sorry, but gross! My friend and I wanted to go for a few margaritas and some nibbles - our bill came to almost $150 for 2 drinks each, 2 shared entrees and 2 small tacos each! The new menu was average at best and a rip off. The only positives left are that the staff are absolutely lovely - extremely warm and friendly. But unfortunately the new menu is an absolute flop. Please return the old menu!! Mucho Mexicano down the road will have to be my new go to for Mexican from now on.
