Lovely food, fast and friendly service, very reasonable prices and good serving sizes for tapas. Have to go back to try the paella. Shame the seating sessions are timed - Fri and Sat night flamenco for an extra charge. Cosy atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Churros are nice, but have had better. Chocolate mud cake was divine but I suspect microwaved. Flan was yummy as.

Loved it! Food was amazing, atmosphere so cosy and relaxed, and the staff did a great job of caring for all of our needs. Won't be disappointed, well worth a visit!

I eat at Kanela about every 3 months or so and the food is always consistently good 😁. You are always welcomed with a smile and the atmosphere inside the restaurant gives you the feeling like your in Spain 😃. The paella would be the most authentic in the city 😊

The flamenco was great and enjoyed the ambience. Unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations however lots of other people have left great reviews about the food so perhaps it was a one off.

Just went here by chance as it was near a function I was going to, and ohhh sooo good. Will definitely come back again. Also they have heaps of gluten free options.

The family at Kanela have been around for some time, the atmosphere is built into the walls and floor boards which you can hear while they warm up prior to the show starting. There is no doubt if you want to experience flamenco this is some of the best flamenco you’ll see in the country. The tapas is loving prepared by the mother of the family bringing the authentic Spanish flavor to your plate. The tortilla is excellent

I went during the Latin festival, they changed the size of the plates, ghee music was so loud and through their fan page they told me the flamenco performance was going to start at 7, I got there at 6:30 and the waitress told me the performance will start at 8:15. So disappointed this place

Description

Full of unbridled Spanish spirit, this Melbourne restaurant serves a delicious variety of traditional tapas to the sights and sounds of fiery flamenco dancers. Regular performances by the Melburnian Arte Kanela dance troupe guarantee the spice isn't reserved for the cooking. The signature dish here is the much-loved classic paella: rice and seafood cooked slowly in a large, cast-iron pan. It's simple cooking at its best and the generous servings mean it's best shared between friends. Diners can choose to sit in the modest outdoor area or inside, where the dim red lighting casts a warm glow over the rustic wooden furnishings.
