Grain Asia is located within Box Hill Central and its popularity is well justified. My prayers and cravings were answered when I heard that the pork noodles there was quite solid. There’s very few Melbourne places which serve this quintessential Malaysian dish, but I think Grain Asia’s version is a respectable version. For first timers, you could just ask for pork meat slices and omit the pork liver, stomach and intestines. Man, the bowl was HUGE ($14). I couldn’t even eat half on my own, so I think it’s best for two people to share this. The mince pork was tender, well seasoned and reminiscent of how they do it at home. I found that the pork soup broth errs a bit on the sweeter side, but is jam packed with a pork after taste. Was such a slurrrrrrrp worthy meal. We also took away some Yong tau foo and they were delicious with noodle soup. Highlights were the okra, chive fish paste, beancurd skin with fish paste and tofu! 🥳🥳🥳 best to air fry the fried beancurd for the extra crisp

Grain Asian Dessert is good, really good. My baked BBQ Pork Puff was hot, the pastry crumbly and flaky. The pork inside was absolutely delicious and I could have eaten a lot more than I brought lol. This place is definitely worth a visit. Previous review - March 2019 I had a citron tea w aloe Vera from this take away place. The tea was sweet, with a slightly sour aftertaste. It was alright overall, I liked the citron peel in the drink and the aloe vera pieces gave the drink some chewy texture but it was hard to finish. And it was expensive for what it was. Overall it was just ok.

Have been a long time customer at this cafe. Recently their staffs were changed, they were rude especially the female staffs (boyish hair style and the skinny one), customer service was extremely poor, one of the screamed at the customers not to take the table. It looks like the customers owed their female staffs big time/money, arrogant and no expression no greetings no thank you no sorry at all. I think management have to look into this eventhough the business seems good. Disappointed long time customer.

I tad takeaway last Friday from the shop. ordered 2 zhu yuk fun with 1 extra topping. one of the containers has a spider floating in the soup when i emptied it to reheat in at home. i assumed its an isolated box and took the risk of consuming the other 2. luckily I didn't experience any food poisoning. appreciate you to look into your food prep and hygiene.

4th February 2021: A selection of vegetables, seafood and pork wrapped in tofu sheets (yong tau fu) immersed in hot, steamy and creamy (coconut milk) curry broth, similar in taste to the Malaysian Curry Laksa but without the noodles. Service at Grain Asian Cafe is friendly and professional. Dishes are reasonably priced. Highly recommended if you find yourself in the Box Hill Central precinct. 18 February 2021: A selection of seafood and pork wrapped in tofu sheets (yong tau fu), on this occasion soaked in clear tasty broth without noodles. A delicious light lunch.

Nice pork noodles, Malaysian style but a little thirsty after drinking the soup.
