Debacle

A very limited breakfast menu. The coffee is still good but I don't think they are courting the breakfast crowd. The french toast looked very nice but the brekkie roll was uninspired.

Yup it's a debacle, well in the food department. The garlic parmesan bread was the highlight, it quickly fell over there. The buffalo wings were average, the chicken parmi was average, however with cold instant mash and very average veggies it wasn't ideal.

Very impressed by the food. The bar tender knew his boutique beers and was able to suggest a good beer for someone who doesn't drink a lot of beer.

The 3 staff members at 7pm tonight were friendly, competent and professional! The food was fantastic but the service from your staff was definitely the highlight of our night :)

Great trivia night with some fun and interactive games throughout.

Helpful staff and the venue was able to manage our large group (we didn't have a booking either). Food was good and came out fairly quickly.

Great selection of German Beers on tap. Good pub lunch menu with fast service.

I ordered a schnitty because I thought they were hard to stuff up but am feeling pretty sad about mine. The crumb was so tough my knife couldn’t cut through it. The chicken itself had an odd flavour. There was a tiny amount of sauce. More sauce might have helped soften the crumb (and disguise the weirdness of the chicken). The salad was dry, with barely even a drizzle of dressing. The lettuce looked like it came straight out of a bag of salad mix from Woolies. At least the chips were good.

I am actually taking an effort to write this in order to prevent others like me, to step in the muddy river twice or tourists who might think that this place cooks :) I was here 3 years ago and I remember this: great beer, terrible food. I thought things might have changed so I gave it a go again and brought bunch of friends but, unfortunately Debacle keeps its standard and stands to its name 🤦🏻‍♂️. Beer - Czech Pilsne and lager, the only place in ACT ON TAP! -is fantastic- probably best in Canberra- properly poured and temperature spot on. But food - wouldn’t call it food. Anyone can drop frozen pre-fried fish fingers in hot oil and chop some vegetables and add the cheapest unbranded chips. Blindfolded. Burger was so so but chicken wings drowned in cheapest spicy catchup called “buffalo” sauce to cover their dry appearance and to cover the bad taste. It’s a shame that the owners just seem not to care at all. It’s lunch time on a Military Centenary celebrations and we are the only customers here and local suites walking past are giving us looks like: “huh tourists:) They don’t know yet :)” I mean if the fish and chips was $15 I’d shut up but for what they are charging- my advice is eat anywhere else, even 7-11 and then come back late night for fantastic beer.
