If you are looking for good ingredients look no further than their deli or main restaurant for a lovely meal with family. Don't get me wrong I enjoy their pizza too but the customer service at their Pizza & Mozzarella Bar in Carlton was one of the worst I experienced in Melbourne. They don't allow simple changes to menu items which is hard for some people with dietary restrictions like my daughter. It was upsetting because she was really looking forward to trying this place too. 400 Gradi was more than accommodating for simple ingredient changes. I suggest DOC advertise the "no ingredient changes" better.
Highly recommend this place, the quality of food and service is consistent every time we have been there. If it's your first time, try the mozzarella degustation, if you like that style of cheese. It's so fresh and subtle. Pizzas are fantastic, the dough is stretchy and toppings are bang on and generous. Wine list is great too, we always try a something different to tantalize the taste buds. Book ahead as they get super busy.
We recently visited the place with the family and were a bit disappointed after we saw the toilet , it was so dusty and dirty. I don’t think it is accepted in a cafe. The light upstairs was depressing , I would recommend to add some pendants or something for atmosphere.
Absolutely delicious. We had a first class meal delivered by uber eats to the Melbourne Zoo for a picnic dinner. It was hands down the best meal we had in Melbourne. It’s so nice to be able to access such great food at the click of a button to enjoy at your choice of location because we probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it quite so much just the two of us sitting in a restaurant. A zoo keeper actually recommended you to us and said she’d even heard people raving about you in Thailand. I’ve never seen my 4yo eat such a substantial meal in close proximity to a playground but he was more than happy to polish off the lot before he played.
Great way to celebrate mother's day! The pizzas are so good and the atmosphere is 100% Italian. This place will transport you to Italy.
It is usually quite busy here. However, the pizzas come fresh out of the oven and smell great. The staff have cool accents. It makes you feel like you're really on vacation. I think they have a fireplace too.
The pizza is always really good! The guys working there seem a bit short tempered but the quality of the food kind of allows them to be a bit sassy. I'd let it slide lol. Would definitely go there again 😊
- Burrata 🧀🍅 - Served on a bed of sun dried cherry tomatoe and nudja pesto - Pizza San Daniele 🍕 - San Marzano Tomato, DOP buffalo mozzarella, DOP San Daniele Prosciutto - Pizza ai Porcini 🍄 - Wild Mushroom, Truffle Oil and mozzarella in bianco with grated DOP pecorino My friend highly recommend this pizza place and it did meet my expectations. Lovely hospitality and very amazing food. I’m not a big fan of non-baked cheese however I really enjoyed the cheese served here. They were so light and not stuffing at all. Pizza ai Porcini was my favourite among the dishes we ordered. That hint of truffle was a game changer, so fragrant and delicious. Highly recommend this Italian restaurant. 🥰🥰🥰
Seriously good pizza! Friendly staff and very accommodating for young families. Highly recommend.
The pizza is definitely some of the best in Melbourne, but the service is so hit and miss. I've had some nice times here and appreciate the fast-paced authentic Italian vibe, but equally I've had several other times where the waiters have been curt and inattentive (and frankly sarcastic and rude). Which makes for a less than welcoming experience. I'd say come here when it's quieter and you can enjoy the great food without feeling like you're inconveniencing the staff (which is how they make you feel on a Friday night).
