Creole Soul Kitchen

The staff were friendly, the owner very chatty and engaging. It unfortunately doesn't make up for the food we had in the night. The chicken (main menu item) was dry, the chicken fried steak was actually alright but the Gumbo (non seafood one) was tasteless and not what I know to be true Gumbo. This is what I came for and was severely disappointed. It may have been just one night as it was really busy, which usually means it's popular. It was more disappointing as the owner is very passionate and really enjoyed his banter. I was originally going to give 3 stars but changed to 4 as the actual experience with the staff was good. Good service goes a long way to a potential off night in the kitchen!

This is the best restaurant I have ever visited in Brisbane. We ordered three different cocktails, beer, lamb ribs and chips. Lamb ribs were perfectly cooked, soft and juicy. Chips were not the usual ones, they were waffle chips and were served with aioli sauce. All the cocktails were too good, seemingly the bartender was quite experienced. Overall the experience was too good, will definitely visit this place next time!

Great food, great atmosphere, nice drinks, friendly service, and at a reasonable price. My partner and I really enjoyed the gumbo, pork cracklings, and fried chicken and biscuit. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxed meal and drinks.

Finally found a place in this country town thay call a metropolitan city that gets it! open late cheap and good. Not another franchised, million doller fit out burger shop. This is real authentic soul Americana
