The raspberry meringue cake is delicious, as is the salted caramel eclair mille feuille - both very light and not too sweet. Haven't tried the rest yet but can't wait!

Their pastries and dessert looks really good when you walk inside the place. Tried some of their cakes and special pastries a while ago and I really enjoy them especially their almond croissant which is quite good! They use the Grounds coffee beans which I enjoy a couple of times. I tried their Peppered Bacon, cream cheese & Jalapeno danish which I thoroughly enjoy with their grounds cappucino.

Went to try their limited edition baklava croissant. It was probably the most expensive croissant I've ever had at $12 - BUT it was absolutely divine! The baklava was delicious, and superb in a croissant. Flaky crispy pastry exterior, not too sweet, flavoursome and still soft and buttery. I'll definitely be going back to try their normal almond croissant among other things!

This place is a pastry haven! Awesome pastries, coffee love it! However jury is still out for whole cakes! I am not convinced on the taste @$65 a pop for a small cake! Looks awesome but So much cream inside there’s hardly any cake😝. But otherwise it’s a gem of a place

Banksia Bakehouse has been a project that Chris Sheldrick, Hannah Kim-Sheldrick, Josh Kim and Aileen Zhang began developing in 2018. It was lovely to sit and chat with Aileen and hear their story and vision and they seem like a remarkable team; with passion and enthusiasm in bringing their dream to fruition. They saw a gap in the Sydney market, where there were few businesses in the CBD selling stunning cakes for celebrations. So here came their concept, to handmake and sell beautiful cakes for both larger celebrations or that mini patisserie item to enjoy with your coffee. Almost ready to open and 2020 brings a Pandemic which meant challenging times for the business. Banksia took this in their stride and it meant they could do a business pivot and sell their THICC Cookies and BIGG Brownies online and take time to refine and prep everything ready for their opening. In terms of location, Grosvenor Place was the perfect choice for the store, being right in the city close to Wynyard to service the workplaces in the need for a celebratory cake or sweet treat. When tourism thrives again, it’s also super close to Circular Quay and means tourists can come and check it out. When the relaxing of Covid regulations occurred, Banksia could open their doors and showcase their marvellous patisserie offerings. The bakery seeks to have Australian influence to its goodies, and the name Banksia evokes feelings of the Australian characteristic native wildflower, which is fitting with the nations heritage. The decor is refined, floor to ceiling glass windows for the exterior, brown leather banquettes to sit at and marble tables. There’s also a few tables and umbrellas outside. Head to the counter, and an impressive cabinet showcases their patisserie offerings. The other remarkable part of the store is the visible kitchen, where you can watch the pastry chefs in action, something rare of in Sydney’s bakery scene. I watch them fold over cookie dough and take twice baked almond croissants out of the oven and it gets me excited to taste. Food wise, there’s amazing towering cakes in a range of sizes which can be ordered for corporate or family events, as well as purchased in store. They are absolutely stunning! The clear display case showcases their mini single cake offerings such as chocolate, carrot or Black Forest. The small patisserie pieces which are evidence of remarkable talent are impressive. We try their “apple delight” which Alisa comments is the most popular choice on the menu, and we can understand why. It tastes exactly like a deconstructed apple pie made into a physical apple. Thin white chocolate exterior with an apple cinnamon spiced compote and vanilla cream inside. Sitting on top of a sable biscuit base, makes it really feel like an apple pie. Cut into this beauty and admire the skill of the chefs before devouring it. It’s the perfect amount of sweetness with a lovely light consistency. It’s even gluten free! In addition there’s macarons, thick cookies, brownies and some cruffins. On our visit they had apple pie, mango and Nutella. Though their menu changes. We can recommend going for even something as simple as a plain croissant. Clearly made with the right amount of time, butter and love, to produce a flaky and tasty croissant. Keep an eye out for their special croissants soon, including a chocolate hazelnut and even a biscoff one. There are savoury goods also on offer; a crazy crispy croque monsieurs and even a Mexican jalepeno version. A pie oven has a range of pies and sausage rolls, such as the mushroom stroganoff, satay chicken and beef brisket. The brisket pie was outstanding; crispy, flaky and buttery pastry housing a delicious filling of flavoursome brisket. Whilst you’re there, grab a coffee or tea, with the coffee beans roasted by ‘The Grounds’. Everything here was fabulous. We love the concept, friendly service and of course, the food.

So delicious & a must try for anyone who loves sweets! I came here for a coffee on a weekday in the morning with a friend, it got really busy right after 9AM! The coffee was perfectly creamy and delicious. The hazelnut wattle-seed Croissant was CRAZY sweet and delicious! It was huge, and I was glad I came on an empty stomach, because I almost could finish it. I would definitely not be able to have it as dessert after a meal & would also recommend it would be best to share this with someone else. My friend also seemed to really enjoy his cinnamon scroll croissant. I have to admit, this place is quite pricey ($12 for the fancy shmancy croissant) but worth it! The cashier / waitress didn’t ask if we were eating in or having take away, so she brought out the coffee in paper cups and baked goods in one box, (even though we paid separately at the counter) and then had to place them on plates for us when she realized we would be eating in— in saying that, service & communication could have made this experience much better. Other than that, it was an enjoyable breakfast experience and I’ll gladly come back to try more!

Banksia is a very very dangerous place, one you try there desserts and patisserie it becomes an addiction to keep going back. Not only are they super delicious, you’re going to become super broke as well. Banksia bakery originally started out in Banksia and now they have opened their second shop at Grosvenor Place which is between Wynyard and Circular Quay. My first impressions of Banksia is their amazing cake display, they sell an array of cakes from small to large, macarons of different flavours, lots of delicious desserts, scones and a huge selection of bakery goods for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. There’s just too much to try and that’s why it will make you go back again and again. Banksia sell the grounds coffee, but the coffee isn’t great so if your a picky coffee person go to your favourite place instead, after all it’s a bakery they don’t specialise in coffee. Their packaging is very nice as well using quality materials, catchy colours and large fonts on takeaway bags, cake boxes and loyalty coffee cards. There cakes, desserts, bakery foods are not cheap. To give you an approximate idea, buy any dessert or baked product plus a coffee, you’re already walking out the door spending almost $20. If you go there daily that’s 100 bucks! Overall Banksia has developed their brand as well as reputation. Their patisserie and desserts is a joy to eat and I guess worthy of the price. Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
