Not a cheap restaurant but well worth it. So busy on our visit. Every table full. The staff though were fantastic. Service friendly and first rate. Food was good, tasty and hearty. Atmosphere was first rate. This is my favorite Blue Mountains eatery. Oh yeah the cocktails are fab.

Eclectic decor blending older furniture, soft lightings and East Asian themes makes for an interesting ambience. Excellent and prompt service was matched with outstanding and interesting dishes.

I am sure they are proud of their heritage and the history of the place is cool, but this does not mean they can't change/clean their furniture from time to time. Place looks very old and parts of it not taken care of. (Maybe this is the vibe they are going for, I just don't like it). The first interaction was a very rude hostess who walked us to our table. Our first server was very friendly and energetic but we were then served by 3 different people who were just uninterested. No one came to check on us after our mains were served, or replaced our water. Food is OK at best, very overpriced and poor presentation. The entrees were quite nice but the mains (steak and lamb) weren't great. We asked for the steak medium rare but it was very rare. That was fine for us because we didn't mind but some people do. If you are looking for a nice night out, go to your local pub. It will be cheaper and friendlier.

We paid a visit to the Avalon while on holiday and were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Very reasonable pricing, great food and nice overall vibe. Worth a visit if you're looking for something on the 'higher end' in the Mountains.

We just celebrated my birthday with lunch at the Avalon. We loved the ambience and really enjoyed the food - everything was delicious! Our favorite favorites: the camembert was extraordinary (but beware: it's a large portion for an entree! We shared and that was a good thing!) and the licorice cheesecake - to die for! Thank you for a very good time!

Outstanding restaurant. The parmesan bread was to die for. And the spring rolls may have been the best spring rolls I've ever had! No exaggeration! The service was attentive and staff were extremely friendly. The decor of the place was sublime and loved the cutlery and glasses. Highly recommended!
